  1. 1. Between Communication and Community : EU Constitution Making, a European Public Sphere and the (Un-)Likelihood of Transnational Debate

    Author : Maximilian Conrad; Statsvetenskapliga institutionen; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; postnational democracy; framing; European public sphere; daily newspapers; constitutional patriotism; transnational debate; deliberation; Habermas; transnational engagement; permeability;

    Abstract : What kind of public sphere is possible in the European Union? Against the backdrop of debates on the transformation of democracy beyond the nation-state, this study explores daily newspapers’ role in providing forums for transnational debate in the presumed absence of an overarching European collective identity. It uses empirical means to reconsider the question of the supposed co-constitutiveness of the public sphere and political community. READ MORE

  2. 2. A Search for Neutrinos from Cosmic Point Sources using AMANDA-B10 with Emphasis on Limit Calculation Techniques

    Author : Jan Conrad; Allan Hallgren; Olga Botner; Gregory W. Sullivan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik;

    Abstract : A search for cosmic point sources of neutrinos has been performed using data taken in 1999 with the AMANDA-B10 neutrino telescope. This work describes methods for signal and background separation and the statistical analysis of the final data sample. READ MORE

  3. 3. Dark matter signal normalisation for dwarf spheroidal galaxies : A frequentist analysis of stellar kinematics for indirect Dark Matter searches

    Author : Andrea Chiappo; Jan Conrad; Piero Ullio; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dark matter; dwarf galaxies; kinematics and dynamics of galaxies; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Indirect detection strategies of Dark Matter (DM) entail searching for signals of DM annihilation or decay, typically in the form of excess positrons or high-energy photons above the astrophysical background, originating from (inferred) DM-rich environments. Due to their characteristics, dwarf spheroidal satellite galaxies (dSphs) of the Milky Way are considered very promising targets for indirect particle DM identification. READ MORE

  4. 4. Antitumor effect in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in patients with solid cancer

    Author : Réka Conrad; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) has been presented as a promising immunotherapy not only against hematological malignancies but also against solid tumors. Different solid tumors such as renal cell, breast, colon, prostate and advanced primary liver cancer have been treated with HSCT at our center. READ MORE

  5. 5. Origin of Iron Isotope Signatures in Boreal Estuaries

    Author : Sarah Conrad; Magnus Mörth; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Abstract : The geochemistry of iron (Fe) during freshwater transport and estuarine mixing has been investigated. Espescially the changes in the Fe-isotope signature have been studied. The fate of Fe-isotopes during estuarine mixing has been poorly studied. READ MORE
