  1. 1. Fabrication and Characterization of Plasmonic Nanophotonic Absorbers and Waveguides

    Author : Yiting Chen; Min Qiu; Min Yan; Francisco Javier García de Abajo; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nanophotonics; plasmonics; fabrication; SRA - ICT; SRA - Informations- och kommunikationsteknik;

    Abstract : Plasmonics is a promising field of nanophotonics dealing with light interaction with metallic nanostructures. In such material systems, hybridizationof photons and collective free-electron oscillation can result in sub-wavelength light confinement. READ MORE

  2. 2. Importance of insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor and EWS/FLI-1 fusion protein in growth and survival of two different types of neuroectodermal tumor cells

    Author : Min Wang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Treatment with comparatively low doses of the 3-hydroxy-3-metylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitor lovastatin caused growth arrest in both melanoma cells and Ewing's sarcoma (ES) cells. In melanoma cells growth inhibition was correlated with a drastic decrease in N-linked glycosylation of the insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R), which in turn was followed by a decreased expression of IGF-1 binding sites at the cell surface. 3. 3. DFT calculations of initial localized corrosion of aluminum : Influence of aqueous ad-layer, chloride ions, and intermetallic particles

    Author : Min Liu; Jinshan Pan; Ying Chen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aluminum alloys; alumina; chloride; surface adsorption; aqueous ad-layer; localized corrosion; corrosion initiation; work function; micro-galvanic effect; density-functional theory; Volta potential; scanning kelvin probe force microscopy; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Localized corrosion of aluminum (Al, here including Al alloys) involves a series of physico-chemical processes at the interface between the metal and the aqueous ad-layer or the aqueous solution. The mechanisms that govern localized corrosion are quite complex and have been the subject of many experimental studies. READ MORE

  4. 4. Expression and function of vascular estrogen receptors alpha and beta

    Author : Min Liang; Kärlfysiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetologi; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; ubiquitin-proteasome pathway; MIP-2; MCP-1; iNOS; estrogen receptor knockout; estrogen receptor; aorta; estrogen;

    Abstract : Estrogen receptors (ER) are expressed not only in classical target organs for estrogen like breast and uterus, but also in male reproductive system as well as in non-reproductive organs such as brain, liver and bone. The functions of ER are quite well known in reproductive organs but less information is available regarding their function in vascular tissue. READ MORE

  5. 5. On the Formation of Cathedral Chapters and Cathedral Culture : Lund, Denmark, and Scandinavia, c. 1060–1225

    Author : A. M. Ciardi; Kyrko- och missionsstudier; []

    Abstract : The cathedral was one of the most important institutions in medieval Europe. The local as well as ecclesiastical elite gathered around it and its bishop; the liturgy was celebrated day and night, year after year; the cathedral served as educational institution of the clergy. The cathedral chapter, i.e. READ MORE
