  1. 1. Remote sensing of supra-glacial lakes on the west Greenland Ice Sheet

    Author : A. Malin Johansson; Ian A. Brown; Peter Jansson; Johan Kleman; Andreas Ahlstrøm; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Supra-glacial lakes; Greenland Ice Sheet; Ice melting; Remote sensing; SAR; MODIS; Time-series analysis; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : The Greenland Ice Sheet is the largest ice sheet in the northern hemisphere. Ongoing melting of the ice sheet, resulting in increased mass loss relative to the longer term trend, has raised concerns about the stability of the ice sheet. Melt water generated at the surface is temporarily stored in supra-glacial lakes on the ice sheet. READ MORE

  2. 2. Temporal and spatial dynamics in subarctic peat plateaus and thermokarst lakes

    Author : A. Britta K. Sannel; Peter Kuhry; Peter Jansson; Ian A. Brown; Serge Payette; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : Peatlands; permafrost; subarctic; peat plateau; thermokarst lake; macrofossil analysis; carbon nitrogen ratio; peat accumulation; carbon accumulation; remote sensing; binary encoding; time-series analysis; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : Permafrost peatlands are widespread at high northern latitudes and are important soil organic carbon reservoirs. A future warming in these areas, as suggested by global climate models, can cause thawing and increased ground subsidence (thermokarst), resulting in changes in surface hydrology and ecosystem functioning. 3. 3. High Performance Adaptive Finite Element Methods : With Applications in Aerodynamics

    Author : Niclas Jansson; Johan Hoffman; Johan Jansson; Vincent Heuveline; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The massive computational cost for resolving all scales in a turbulent flow makes a direct numerical simulation of the underlying Navier-Stokes equations impossible in most engineering applications. Recent advances in adaptive finite element methods offer a new powerful tool in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). READ MORE

  4. 4. Working together when being apart : An analysis of distributed collaborative work through ICT from an organizational and psychosocial perspective

    Author : Eva Jansson; Carl Gustaf Jansson; Steve Whittaker; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Datavetenskap; system sssciences; computer; Datavetenskap; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : The purpose of the research is to analyze collaboration and communication in distributed teams working together through ICT (Information and Communication Technology), to provide an overview and a broader understanding of important areas that require consideration. The analysis is from an organizational, psychosocial and managerial perspective, with the aim to support the development of strategies and the creation of more efficient and pleasant distributed work environments. 5. 5. Urban microclimate and surface hydrometeorological processes

    Author : Christer Jansson; Per-Erik Jansson; David Gustafsson; Chen Delian; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CoupModel; ENVI-met; roughness sub-layer; urban heat island; Physical geography; Naturgeografi;

    Abstract : The urban near surface atmosphere is of great concern since it affects the climate to which an increasing amount of people are immediately exposed. This study investigated the microclimate in central Stockholm in terms of the thermal conditions in the 0-2. READ MORE
