  1. 6. Two-Barrier Problems in Applied Probability: Algorithms and Analysis

    Author : Mats Pihlsgård; Matematisk statistik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Statistics; operations research; programming; actuarial mathematics; Statistik; Matematik; Mathematics; Naturvetenskap; Natural science; Reflection; Stochastic processes; Applied probability; Queueing; operationsanalys; programmering; aktuariematematik;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of five papers (A-E). In Paper A, we study transient properties of the queue length process in various queueing settings. We focus on computing the mean and the Laplace transform of the time required for the queue length starting at $x0. We define the loss rate due to the reflection. READ MORE

  2. 7. Low-dimensional cohomology of current Lie algebras

    Author : Pasha Zusmanovich; Rikard Bögvad; Dimitry Leites; Semyon Konstein; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Current Lie algebra; modular Lie algebra; Kac-Moody algebra; cohomology; Algebra; geometry and mathematical analysis; Algebra; geometri och analys; matematik; Mathematics;

    Abstract : We deal with low-dimensional homology and cohomology of current Lie algebras, i.e., Lie algebras which are tensor products of a Lie algebra L and an associative commutative algebra A. READ MORE

  3. 8. Crystallization of the superconducting phase in unconventional superconductors

    Author : Patric Holmvall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pattern formation; spontaneous symmetry breaking; Andreev bound states; mesoscopic superconductivity; phase crystals; thin superconducting films; phase transitions; non-local Ginzburg-Landau theory; time-reversal symmetry; flat bands; unconventional superconductivity; quasiclassical theory; translational symmetry; cuprates; inhomogeneous superconductivity;

    Abstract : Superconductivity is a macroscopic quantum phenomenon, in the sense that a macroscopic number of electrons form a pair condensate, that occupies a single ground state. The electrons in this state are phase-coherent, breaking global U (1)-symmetry, and spatial variations of the phase imply superflows that usually cost kinetic energy, resulting in a uniform and rigid phase. 4. 9. On determinantal point processes and random tilings with doubly periodic weights

    Author : Tomas Berggren; Maurice Duits; Neil O'Connell; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Determinantal point processes; Periodically weighted random tilings; Central Limit Theorems; Riemann-Hilbert problems; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : This thesis is dedicated to asymptotic analysis of determinantal point processes originating from random matrix theory and random tiling models. Our main interest lies in random tilings of planar domains with doubly periodic weights. READ MORE

  5. 10. Receptivity, Stability and Sensitivity analysis of two- and three-dimensional flows

    Author : Guillaume Chauvat; Ardeshir Hanifi; Dan S. Henningson; Ulrich Rist; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; boundary-layers; stability; receptivity; sensitivity; transition; mode decomposition; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : This work deals with various aspects of boundary-layer stability. Modal and non-modal approaches are first used in the study of the global stability of a jet in crossflow. READ MORE
