1. Surgery versus nonsurgical treatment of cervical radiculopathy. Randomized studies of anterior cervical decompression and fusion followed by physiotherapy versus structured physiotherapy alone
Abstract : Background and aims: Cervical radiculopathy (CR) is a symptom complex comprising neck pain and radiating arm pain due to compression of one or more cervical nerve roots, caused by spondylotic narrowing of the intervertebral foramina, intervertebral disc herniation or both. Anterior cervical decompression and fusion (ACDF) is a common surgical procedure to treat CR, but the evidence supporting use of this method versus nonsurgical treatment is scarce. READ MORE

2. Resource-Constrained Embedded Control and Computing Systems
Abstract : This thesis deals with methods for handling resource constraints in embedded control systems and real-time computing systems. By dynamic feedback-based resource scheduling it is possible to achieve adaptability andincreased performance for these systems. READ MORE

3. On the immunopathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus - Immune complexes, type I interferon system, complement system and platelets
Abstract : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune rheumatic disorder characterized by inflammation in several organ systems. SLE patients have an impaired ability to clear dying cells which leads to the exposure of several nuclear antigens which might break self tolerance. READ MORE

4. Functional analysis of the cervical spine : Reliability, reference data and outcome after anterior cervical decompression and fusion
Abstract : The aim of the thesis was to investigate the reliability of the test procedure, and to obtain reference values for active range of motion (AROM) of the neck, neck-, and hand strength. Another aim was to perform a broad assessment of outcome in patients with cervical disc disease operated on by anterior cervical decompression and fusion (ACDF) and to identify predictive factors for a good outcome. 5. Clinical and patient-reported outcomes after anterior cervical decompression and fusion surgery : A focus on functioning and daily life
Abstract : Anterior cervical decompression and fusion (ACDF), with or without an intervertebral cage to add support to the fused segment, is an established surgical treatment of cervical radiculopathy due to cervical disc disease. High recovery rates and pain reductions after surgery have been reported, with similar results with or without a cage. READ MORE
