  1. 21. Development of in vitro and ex vivo positron-emitting tracer techniques and their application to neurotrauma

    Author : Sven Sihver; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; Short-lived radionuclides; in vitro receptor binding; in vitro and ex vivo autoradiography; positron emission tomography; benzodiazepine; muscarinic acetylcholine; and NMDA receptors in CNS; experimental neurotrauma; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi; medicinsk farmakologi; Medical Pharmacology;

    Abstract : The use of positron-emitting tracers has been extended beyond tomographic facilities in the last few years, giving rise to a general positron-emitting tracing technique. The methodological part of the present thesis involved the evaluation of the performance of storage phosphor (SP) plates, with tracers labeled with high-energy, short-lived, positron-emitting radionuclides, using homogenized tissue specimens and autoradiography with frozen brain sections. 2. 22. Clozapine as a dopamine D₁ receptor agonist

    Author : Peter Salmi; Leif Lindström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : psykologi; Psychology;

    Abstract : Objectives'. The present study had two major objectives; [1] to examine the specific role of dopamine D, and DM receptors in body temperature regulation in rats, and [2] to examine in vivo dopamine D, and Dm receptor agonist/antagonist properties of clozapine by use of core temperature measurements.Methods'. 3. 23. Biochemical and immunological characterization of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor from Torpedo marmorata electric organ

    Author : Lena Elfman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Neuronal information transfer in vertebrate skeletal muscle and in the electric organ of e.g. Torpedo is mediated by acetylcholine (ACh). The nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) complex translates the binding of ACh into permeability changes. READ MORE

  5. 25. Electrophysiology-based investigations of G protein-coupled receptor pharmacology

    Author : Richard Ågren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) constitute targets for ~34% of approved drugs. The muscarinic acetylcholine M2 receptor (M2R) activates G protein-coupled receptor inward rectifying potassium (GIRK) channels in the central nervous system and heart. Membrane potential modulates agonist potency at several GPCRs. READ MORE
