  1. 1. Studies of acoustic waves, noise and charge pumping using single-electron devices

    Author : Martin Gustafsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; single-electron pump; single-electron transistor; surface acoustic wave; single-electron devices; charge pumping; TLF; SINIS turnstile; electrometer; two-level fluctuator; single-photon detector; noise; SAW; SET;

    Abstract : This thesis covers a range of experiments on single-electron devices, electrical circuits that utilize the discreetness of the electron charge. The Single-Electron Transistor (SET) is of special importance among these, being the most sensitive electrometer demonstrated, and sufficiently mature to serve as a building block in sensors and detectors for physical phenomena that can be transformed into charge signals. 2. 2. Microwave FET Modeling and Applications

    Author : Christian Fager; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MESFET; uncertainty; model; FMCW; statistical; HEMT; small-signal; extraction; distortion; intermodulation; CMOS; LDMOS; power amplifier; estimation; FET; large-signal; radar; AM noise;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with three distinct topics within the areas of modeling, analysis and circuit design with microwave field effect transistors (FETs). First, the extraction of FET small-signal model parameters is addressed. READ MORE

  3. 3. Measuring quantum systems with a tunnel junction

    Author : Joachim Wabnig; Jörgen Rammer; Ulrich Eckern; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum mechanics; quantum measurement; tunnel junction; qubit; nanomechanics; noise; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis is concerned with employing the statistics of charge transfer in a conductor as a tool for quantum measurement. The physical systems studied are electronic devices made by nanoscale manufacturing techniques. In this context quantum measurement appears not as a postulate, but as physical process. READ MORE

  5. 5. Behavioural Modelling of Radio Frequency Power Amplifiers : An Evaluation of Some Block Structure and Neural Network Models

    Author : Magnus Isaksson; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : This work considers behavioral modelling of radio frequency power amplifiers. Due to the use of modern digital modulation methods power amplifiers are nowadays subjected to signals having a considerable bandwidth and a fast changing envelope. READ MORE
