  1. 6. ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINANTS AND SPERM Y:X CHROMOSOME RATIO. Impact of androgen- and dioxin-related effects in vivo and in vitro

    Author : Tarmo Tiido; Malmö Reproduktionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; AR; polymorphisms; Sertoli cell; endocrine disruption; inhibitory cross-talk; Biomedicinska vetenskaper; Biomedical sciences; AHR; sperm Y:X chromosome ratio; sex ratio; POPs; TCDD;

    Abstract : During the last decades, there has been concern that the environmental contaminants, such as POPs, may contribute to sex ratio changes in offspring of exposed populations. Accidental exposure to TCDD has been shown to be associated with fewer sons in men who were exposed in adolescence or earlier in life. READ MORE

  2. 7. Early effects of castration therapy in non-malignant and malignant prostate tissue

    Author : Nina Ohlson; Pernilla Wikström; Anders Bergh; Pär Stattin; Marja Nevalainen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; human biopsies; androgen ablation; stroma; epithelium; micro-dissection; PSA; IGF-1; IGF-R1; AR; Pathology; Patologi;

    Abstract : Early Effects of Castration Therapy in Non-malignant and Malignant Prostate Tissue BACKGROUND. Androgen ablation, the standard treatment for advanced prostate cancer, results in increased apoptosis, decreased cell proliferation and subsequent involution of the prostate gland. READ MORE

  3. 8. A Treatise on the Geometric and Electronic Structure of Clusters : Investigated by Synchrotron Radiation Based Electron Spectroscopies

    Author : Andreas Lindblad; Olle Björneholm; Gunnar Öhrwall; Maxim Tchaplyguine; Paolo Milani; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cluster; nanoparticle; Heterogeneous; Homogeneous; Mixed; Cluster production methods; co-expansion; pick-up; doping; Cluster geometry; radial segregation; Interatomic Coulombic Decay; ICD; Auger electron spectroscopy; AES; X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; XPS; Ultra-violet spectroscopy; UPS; Noble gas; Rare gas; Ne; Ar; Kr; Xe; Ammonia; NH3; Sulphur hexafluoride; SF6; MAX-lab; BESSY; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Clusters are finite ensembles of atoms or molecules with sizes in the nanometer regime (i.e. nanoparticles). This thesis present results on the geometric and electronic structure of homogeneous and heterogeneous combinations of atoms and molecules. READ MORE

  4. 9. Rare-gas Clusters Studied by Electron Spectroscopy : Structure of Heterogeneous Clusters and Effects of Electron Scattering on Auger Decay

    Author : Marcus Lundwall; Olle Björneholm; Gunnar Öhrwall; Maxim Tchaplyguine; Thomas Möller; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Physics; Nano-particles; Clusters; Heterogeneous clusters; Core-shell clusters; XPS; UPS; AES; Electron scattering; Radial structure; Surface structure; Surface sensitivity; Synchrotron radiation; Ne; Ar; Kr; Xe; Fysik;

    Abstract : In this Thesis experimental studies of nano-clusters using synchrotron radiation based photoelectron (UPS and XPS) and Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES) are presented. The investigations may be divided into two parts where the first reports on the structure of heterogeneous two component clusters, and the second concerns electronic decay processes. READ MORE

  5. 10. Strategists – free or bound? : On individuality and typicality among CEOs

    Author : Anna Larsson; Helén Anderson; Elisabeth Sundin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Strategists; individuality; typicality; institutionalised environments; reflection; Strateger; individualitet; typiskhet; institutionaliserad omvärld; reflektion; Business studies; Företagsekonomi;

    Abstract : The purpose of this study is to articulate and describe interpretations/ideas of companies, and to re-contextualize strategists, and to discuss strategists as free or bound, guided by the broader sociological framework framing strategists as individual subjects within an institutionalized (objectified) context of business. This thesis departs from a notion of “companification” in and among organizations as a process of diffusion of institutionalised practices and ideas of companies and raises the question of how practicing strategists interpret companies in an institutionalised environment (business society).
