12. Adjuvant therapies to fluid resuscitation in experimental sepsis : Intervention studies in models of ARDS and peritonitis
Abstract : Fluid resuscitation is essential to antagonize the deleterious effects of tissue hypo-perfusion in sepsis. If not thoroughly monitored and individually tailored, fluid therapy increases the risk of volume overload. Volume overload is associated with higher mortality in sepsis. READ MORE

13. Cross-modal Imaging in Lung Research: From µCT dosimetry to synchrotron phase contrast microtomography biomechanical insights in preclinical lung injury models
Abstract : Lung diseases continue to present a large burden to public health, especially in industrialized countries. For abetter understanding of the underlying patho-mechanisms in lung related diseases as well as for testing theefficacy of novel therapies, preclinical studies in animal models are indispensable. 14. Acute lung failure induced by tricyclic antidepressants : an experimental evaluation
Abstract : The tricyclic antidepressant drugs (TCA) have, over the years, been reported to be able to cause adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)/acute lung injury in connection with overdose, and are currently among the most common cause of self-poisoning. Approximately 10% of all TCA overdose patients develop ARDS, and the treatment of these patients, irrespective of the event causing ARDS, is mainly supportive. READ MORE

15. Regional ventilation, pulmonary perfusion and gas exchange in supine and prone positions
Abstract : The rationale for treating patients with acute lung injury in the prone position springs from a number of observations. Clinical reports have documented improved oxygenation when patients are turned prone. Regional vascular conductance is higher in dorsal lung regions regardless of posture. READ MORE
