  1. 1. Stereotyped B Cell Receptors in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia : Implications for Antigen Selection in Leukemogenesis

    Author : Fiona Murray; Richard Rosenquist Brandell; Kostas Stamatopoulos; Gunilla Enblad; Gerard Tobin; Manlio Ferrarini; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; chronic lymphocytic leukaemia; immunoglobulin genes; somatic hypermutation; stereotyped B cell receptors; antigen selection; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : Biased immunoglobulin heavy variable (IGHV) gene usage and distinctive B-cell receptor (BCR) features have been reported in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), which may reflect clonal selection by antigens during disease development. Furthermore, the IGHV gene mutation status distinguishes two clinical entities of CLL, where patients with unmutated IGHV genes have an inferior prognosis compared to those with mutated IGHV genes. 2. 2. Spatial and temporal population dynamics in the mountain tundra – mesopredator and prey

    Author : Rasmus Erlandsson; Anders Angerbjörn; Dennis Murray; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; population dynamics; cyclic; mountain tundra; arctic fox; Norwegian lemming; small rodents; mesopredator; predation; survival; reproduction; zoologisk ekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Abstract : It is well known that competition, predation and fluctuating food resources can have strong effect on individual fitness and population dynamics. The complexity of natural systems can make it complicate to disentangle those processes, but environments with relatively simple food webs, and strong cyclic population dynamics offer contrasting conditions resembling experimental treatments. 3. 3. Probabilistic Programming for Birth-Death Models of Evolution

    Author : Jan Kudlicka; Johannes Borgström; Thomas B. Schön; Lawrence M. Murray; Bret Larget; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; probabilistic programming; birth-death models; statistical phylogenetics; particle filters; sequential Monte Carlo SMC ; Computer Science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Phylogenetic birth-death models constitute a family of generative models of evolution. In these models an evolutionary process starts with a single species at a certain time in the past, and the speciations—splitting one species into two descendant species—and extinctions are modeled as events of non-homogenous Poisson processes. 4. 4. Venture Capital for the Future : Implications of Founding Visions in the Venture Capital Setting

    Author : Miriam Garvi; Gordon Murray; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : Business and economics; Ekonomi;

    Abstract : This dissertation deals with founding visions in the venture capital setting. It is the story of two contrasting initiatives for venture capital as they unfold in the turbulence surrounding the millennium. READ MORE

  5. 5. Automating condition monitoring of vegetation on railway trackbeds and embankments

    Author : Roger G. Nyberg; Narendra K. Gupta; Mark S. Dougherty; Siril Yella; David J. Murray-Smith; Alistair Armitage; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Complex Systems – Microdata Analysis; Komplexa system - mikrodataanalys;

    Abstract : Vegetation growing on railway trackbeds and embankments present potential problems. The presence of vegetation threatens the safety of personnel inspecting the railway infrastructure. In addition vegetation growth clogs the ballast and results in inadequate track drainage which in turn could lead to the collapse of the railway embankment. READ MORE
