  1. 1. Addressing equality and diversity in the workplace through recruitment materials : an equality monitoring approach

    Author : Amanda J. Heath; Jens Agerström; Magnus Carlsson; Ishbel McWha-Hermann; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; equality monitoring; equality diversity inclusion; job advertisements; organizational attraction; ethnicity; recruitment; diversity management; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) statements have been used as part of diversity management in human resources for some time and research suggests they are generally perceived positively and can increase organizational attraction in underrepresented groups, thus promoting diversity and inclusion. The main aim of this doctoral dissertation is to examine the effects of a particular diversity management practice called equality monitoring (EM) and investigate public perceptions of EM and effects on behaviour such as applications, intentions to pursue a job and organizational attraction. 2. 2. Neural Stem and Progenitor Cells as a Tool for Tissue Regeneration

    Author : Ulrika Wallenquist; Karin Forsberg Nilsson; Lars Hillered; Karin Holmqvist; Anders Lewén; Johan Bengzon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; traumatic brain injury; neural stem cells; transplantation; CNS; PNS; progenitor cells; inflammation; CCI; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Neurosurgery; neurokirurgi; Medical Biochemistry; medicinsk biokemi;

    Abstract : Neural stem and progenitor cells (NSPC) can differentiate to neurons and glial cells. NSPC are easily propagated in vitro and are therefore an attractive tool for tissue regeneration. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a common cause for death and disabilities. A fundamental problem following TBI is tissue loss. READ MORE

  3. 3. Smooth muscle hypertrophy and the IGF-system

    Author : Yun Chen; David R. Clemmons; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Insulin-like growth factor-! (IGF-I) has both metabolic and mitogenic effects on smooth muscle cells (SMCs). The effects of IGF-I are modified by a group of binding proteins (IGFBPs). The present study was devoted to smooth muscle hypertrophy and the IGF-system in smooth muscle under different conditions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Sound Insulation at Low Frequencies

    Author : Andrzej Pietrzyk; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Finite Element Method; numerical simulations; Modal Approach; sound insulation; sound reduction index; low frequency; building partitions;

    Abstract : The airborne sound transmission through building partitions at low frequencies was studied. The definition of the sound reduction index as a measure of sound insulation has been examined by means of extensive numerical simulations in 3-D domains. The simulations were based on the wave theoretical acoustics. READ MORE

  5. 5. Water at surfaces and interfaces from first-principles studies

    Author : Sheng Meng; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Water is ubiquitous in nature and ordinary to us. However, no matter how common it is, water is unique, mysterious, and has numerous unusual properties, many of which still lack a scientific interpretation. READ MORE
