  1. 1. Micro-scale studies of wear

    Author : Rickard Gåhlin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Wear; micro-scale; methods; fundamental studies; AFM; micromechanical; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : The development of materials for tribological components is constantly striving to more sophisticated properties, specialised for specific applications. This progress requires and depends to a large extent on a parallel development of the theoretical knowledge of wear and on development of the experimental tools for investigating wear in the research lab as well as in the field. Abstract : Luftburna partiklar (PM) är ett problem för människans hälsa, där flertalet samband mellan negativa hälsoeffekter finns mellan luftföroreningar finns, bland annat för respiratoriska sjukdomar, lungcancer och kardiovaskulära sjukdomar med flera. I länder där dubbdäck används, till exempel Sverige, Finland och Norge, och sandning av vägar och gator genomförs vintertid för att säkerställa god friktion kommer en betydande andel av partiklarna från vägslitage och nedkrossning av sand vilket bidrar till PM10. Abstract : Non-exhaust PM10 is an issue in the urban environment linked to health issues. Emissions of non-exhaust PM10 is relatable to pavement properties. Also of importance is resuspension of road dust stored from surfaces. This depends on the traffic and metrological conditions. READ MORE

  4. 4. The effect of workpiece material and its microstructure on tool wear in metal cutting

    Author : Philipp Hoier; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Scanning electron microscopy; Superalloy; Cutting tool; Wear; Cemented carbide; Steel; Machining;

    Abstract : The aim of the present work is to promote the basic understanding of how the workpiece material and its microstructure affect the tool wear during metal cutting. To isolate the effect of the workpiece material, the tool material (uncoated cemented carbide) was kept constant while the workpiece was varied. READ MORE

  5. 5. High Temperature Wear Processes

    Author : Sinuhe Hernandez; Bojan Podgornik; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : Moving machine assemblies are increasingly exposed to extreme operating conditions involving high temperatures owing to demands on higher power densities, high performance/efficiency and extreme environments. The changes in surface and near surface properties of contacting surfaces caused by exposure to high temperature and deformation govern the occurrence of friction, wear and material transfer of the tribological system.
