  1. 1. Gene regulation mechanisms by the transcriptional coregulator mastermind-like 1

    Author : Mariana Saint Just Ribeiro; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Acetylation autoacetylation; chromatin; trnascription; coregulator; Mastermind-like 1 MAML1 ; p300; Notch signaling; phosphorylation; GSK3beta;

    Abstract : MAML1 was first identified as a coactivator for Notch receptors, but later it was also found to function as a coactivator for several other activators, including p53, beta-catenin, and MEF2C. MAML1 is critical for Notch signalling and has been shown to act cooperatively with the histone acetyltransferase (HAT) p300 in transcription that is mediated by the Notch intracellular domain (Notch IC). 2. 2. Role of posttranslational modifications in regulation of Notch and transcriptional coactivator mastermind-like 1

    Author : Anita Popko-Scibor; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The Notch signaling is an evolutionary conserved pathway enabling short range cell-cell interactions, crucial for diverse developmental and physiological processes during embryonic and adult life. The Mastermind-like (MAML) family of transcriptional coactivator proteins has been shown to play an essential role in regulation of Notch-mediated transcription. READ MORE

  3. 3. Molecular mechanisms of the transcriptional co-activator mastermind-like 1

    Author : Magnus L Hansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Gene regulation is a complex process that requires several types of proteins, including chromatin-modifying enzymes, transcription factors, co-activators and co-repressors. We have investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying the action of the co-activator protein MAML1, which was first identified as a transcriptional co-activator for Notch receptors. READ MORE

  4. 4. Mapping the genome and characterization of an acetyltransferase of Trypanosoma cruzi

    Author : Stephen O Ochaya; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Trypanosoma cruzi; Chagas´disease; karyotyping; genomic; acetyltransferase;

    Abstract : Trypanosoma cruzi (T.cruzi) is a flagellate protozoan parasite that causes Chagas' disease and is most common in Latin American countries. The disease currently infects over 13 million persons and about 100 million more are at risk. Despite basic research for many years, there is neither a vaccine nor useful drugs available to combat the disease. READ MORE
