  1. 1. Development of Ultra-fast Biosensors for Detection of Non-electroactive Neurotransmitters

    University dissertation from Gothenburg : Chalmers tekniska högskola

    Author : Yuanmo Wang; [2017]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; artificial cell; quantification; stability; deformation; dynamic light scattering; adsorption; amperometry; nanoparticle tracking analysis; enzyme monolayer; glucose oxidase; exocytosis; choline oxidase; acetylcholine; enzymatic activity; acetylcholine esterase; gold nanoparticles; Biosensor;

    Abstract : During neuronal communication neurotransmitters are released through the process exocytosis that occurs on the time scale of sub-milliseconds to milliseconds. Neuronal activity by neurotransmitters that are non-electroactive cannot easily be monitored due to limitations in the temporal resolutions of the sensor probes for these analytes. READ MORE

  2. 2. Creating Ultrafast Biosensors for Neuroscience

    University dissertation from Gothenburg : Chalmers tekniska högskola

    Author : Yuanmo Wang; [2019]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantification; glucose; choline oxidase; gold nanoparticles; enzyme monolayer; enzymatic activity; Biosensor; adsorption; brain slice; enzyme stability; acetylcholine esterase; artificial cell; exocytosis; glucose oxidase; deformation; glutamate; glutamate oxidase; acetylcholine; amperometry;

    Abstract : Neuronal communication is the basis for all our brain function and relies on regulated exocytosis, a cell function that involves release of quantal amounts of neurotransmitters into the gap space between interconnected neurons to serve as chemical signals. To study exocytosis, which is a fast process that occurs on the timescale of sub-milliseconds to milliseconds, a toolbox of analytical methods has been developed where the electrochemical based techniques offer quantitative and sufficient high temporal recording speed. Abstract : The work described in this thesis has the focus on the development of new analytical tools to study processes related to cellular secretion (exocytosis) in cell models. Four novel techniques were developed, allowing new ways to study processes related to exocytosis, and gain previously unattainable knowledge. READ MORE

  5. 5. Polypeptide Conjugates as High-affinity Binders for Proteins

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Lotta Tollstoy Tegler; Lars Baltzer; Amelie Eriksson Karlström; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Protein recognition; polypeptide conjugates; peptide; molecular interactions; C-reactive protein; Acetylcholine esterase; Human Carboinc anhydrase; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : A novel concept for protein recognition has been developed. The recognition unit is a hybrid molecule obtained by conjugation of a small organic molecule to a synthetic polypeptide selected from a 16-membered set of 42 amino acid residue sequences. The sequences are unordered and have no prior relation to the target proteins. READ MORE
