  1. 1. Offshore wind farms - ecological effects of noise and habitat alteration on fish

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Zoology, Stockholm University

    Author : Mathias H. Andersson; Stockholms universitet.; [2011]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; renewable energy; fish population; artificial reef; attraction vs. production; habitat structure; reef effect; FAD; bioacoustics; noise disturbance; fish behaviour; detection range; threshold; masking; fish communication and hearing; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology Marine ecology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Terrestrisk; limnisk och marin ekologi Marin ekologi; zoologisk ekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Abstract : There are large gaps in our understanding how fish populations are affected by the anthropogenic noise and the alteration of habitat caused by the construction and operation of offshore wind farms. These issues are of great importance as the construction of offshore wind farms will increase all over the world in the near future. READ MORE

  2. 2. Migration and quality of landlocked Atlantic salmon smolt Implications for conservation and management

    University dissertation from Karlstad : Karlstads universitet

    Author : Johnny R Norrgård; Karlstads universitet.; [2014]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; acoustic telemetry; hatchery; life history; migration mortality; regulated rivers; Salmo salar; salmon; smolt; trout; Biology; Biologi;

    Abstract : Atlantic salmon Salmo salar has a complex life cycle, including long migrations and habitat shifts for both juveniles and adults. As such, salmon populations are vulnerable to habitat degradation and fragmentation along their migratory routes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Landlocked Atlantic salmon Salmo salar L. and trout Salmo trutta L. in the regulated River Klarälven, Sweden Implications for conservation and management

    University dissertation from Karlstad : Karlstad University

    Author : Johnny R Norrgård; Karlstads universitet.; [2011]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Biologi;

    Abstract : Conservation and management of migratory salmonids requires an understanding of their ecology at multiple scales, and a holistic view, including assessment of historical and present anthropogenic impacts. In the regulated River Klarälven, with 11 hydropower dams, populations of landlocked Atlantic salmon Salmo salar and migratory brown trout Salmo trutta have declined due to human activities. 4. 4. Fish in the coastal seascape exploring ecological processes and connectivity for conservation of temperate fish communities

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Ecology, Environment and Plant Sciences, Stockholm University

    Author : Thomas Staveley; Stockholms universitet.; [2019]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; seascape ecology; landscape ecology; seagrass; marine habitats; fish; spatial analysis; connectivity; conservation; Sweden; temperate; marin ekologi; Marine Ecology;

    Abstract : The need to understand patterns and processes in the marine environment has never been so profound as today, particularly as anthropogenic pressures upon coastal regions are drastically affecting habitats and species across a vast range. One approach to further understand these patterns and processes is through the use of seascape ecology methods. READ MORE

  5. 5. Adding Audibility - Reifying the Soundscape of Process Operators

    University dissertation from Department of Informatics, Lund University

    Author : Petter Alexanderson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2007]
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Technological sciences; Samhällsvetenskaper; Social sciences; systemteori; Informatik; systems theory; Informatics; Process Control; Acoustic Ecology; Interaction Design; Auditory Interaction; Teknik;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish En utmaning vid design av interaktiva artefakter är att ta i beräkning den mångfald av digitala ting, system och verktyg människor dagligen sig av ? något som i denna text benämns som en interaktionsekologi. Denna avhandling behandlar tre forskningsteman; för det första hur människor uppfattar och varseblir ljud, och hur vi kan dra nytta av detta när interaktiva ting omger oss och pockar på uppmärksamhet; för det andra hur vardagsljud varskor människor om situationer och händelser i deras omgivning; och för det tredje den designorienterade frå¬gan hur man bäst kan dra nytta av ljud som medium för interaktion.
