  1. 16. Methodology for hemoglobin adduct measurement : Fetal exposures to acrylamide and other genotoxic agents

    Author : Hans von Stedingk; Margareta Törnqvist; Per Rydberg; Christian Lindh; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry;

    Abstract : There is increasing evidence that exposure to toxic chemicals during the prenatal period constitute a higher health risk than exposure during adulthood. To characterize exposure and identify risk factors, sensitive methods for analysis of chemicals in vivo with biomarker methods are needed. READ MORE

  2. 17. Improved basis for cancer risk assessment of acrylamide from food : Determination of glycidamide in vivo doses

    Author : Anna Vikström; Margareta Törnqvist; Kirsi Vähäkangas; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry;

    Abstract : Acrylamide is formed in heat processing of many common foods. According to animal cancer tests acrylamide is a carcinogen. To estimate the cancer risk from exposure via food, the response at high doses in the cancer tests with rats has to be extrapolated to the exposure levels in humans. READ MORE

  3. 18. Polyhydroxyl and Polyphosphorylcholine functionalized Silica for Hydrophilic interaction liquid Chromatography- Synthesis, characterization and application

    Author : Nhat Thi Hong Bui; Knut Irgum; Michael Lämmerhofer; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrophilic Interaction Chromatography; HILIC; silica; TRIS; acrylamide acrylate; ATRP; iniferter; “controlled living’’ radical polymerization; N; N′-methylenebisacrylamide; MPC; stationary phase; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the development of new stationary phases for use in hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography using TRIS-based and phosphorylcholine typed monomers and porous silica particles as starting substrates. In this thesis, several ways of polymerizing highly hydrophilic monomers onto pore surfaces of silica supports are described, based on several “grafting from” schemes. READ MORE

  4. 19. Proton-Conducting Polymers and Membranes for Fuel Cells-Preparation and Properties

    Author : Lina Karlsson; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymer technology; solution properties; aggregation; state of the water; sulfonation; polyelectrolyte; polymer electrolyte; ionomer; acrylamide copolymer; polyphenylsulfone; polysulfone; water absorption; ion exchange membrane; proton conductivity; Polymerteknik; biopolymers;

    Abstract : The development of new materials for use in fuel cells is of importance for the probable replacement of the combustion engine by this technology in public vehicles in the future. The proton-conducting polymer electrolyte membrane is one of the main components in the fuel cell. READ MORE

  5. 20. Hemoglobin dosimetry and comparative toxicity of acrylamide and its metabolic glycidamide

    Author : Emma Bergmark; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Hemoglobin is a useful in vivo dosimeter for electrophilic compounds that react with nucleophilic sites in macromolecules and form covalently bound adducts. With the purpose of increasing the sensitivity of analysis of haemoglobin adducts, a method was developed for enriching adducted globin chains based on ion-exchange chromatography. READ MORE
