  1. 36. Modeling and exploring human IRE1 as a strategy to design novel inhibitors: a computational approach

    Author : Antonio Carlesso; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ER stress; unfolded protein response; cancer; inflammation; neurodegeneration; therapeutic targets; molecular docking; molecular dynamics;

    Abstract : Inositol Requiring Enzyme 1 (IRE1) is a bifunctional serine/threonine kinase and endoribonuclease that is the major mediator of the Unfolded Protein Response (UPR) during endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. The association of IRE1 dysregulation with a wide range of human diseases, stimulated research towards the discovery of small organic molecules able to modulate IRE1 signalling, and to potentially be used as novel therapeutics. 2. 37. Computational Methods for Calculation of Ligand-Receptor Binding Affinities Involving Protein and Nucleic Acid Complexes

    Author : Martin Almlöf; Johan Åqvist; Chris Oostenbrink; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Theoretical chemistry; computer simulations; molecular dynamics; linear interaction energy; binding free energy; linear response; protein-protein interactions; structure-based design; point mutations; hot spots; solvation free energy; Teoretisk kemi;

    Abstract : The ability to accurately predict binding free energies from computer simulations is an invaluable resource in understanding biochemical processes and drug action. Several methods based on microscopic molecular dynamics simulations exist, and in this thesis the validation, application, and development of the linear interaction energy (LIE) method is presented. 3. 38. Ecology and Conservation of the Baltic Proper Harbour Porpoise

    Author : Ida Carlén; Anders Angerbjörn; Julia Carlström; Martin Biuw; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Harbour porpoise; Baltic Sea; distribution; abundance; bycatch; conservation policy; zoologisk ekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Abstract : The Baltic Proper harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena) population is listed by IUCN as Critically Endangered, but conservation action has been lacking for decades, partly due to very limited knowledge on important ecological parameters such as distribution range and abundance. This thesis provides some of the information needed for implementing effective conservation. 4. 39. Exploring infants' cooperative participation in early social routines

    Author : Valentina Fantasia; Kognitionsvetenskap; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Cooperation and joint actions are often investigated in terms of how individuals explicitly coordinate their plans and intentions to achieve a shared goal. However, goals may also be achieved without prior arrangements, when, for instance, an individual takes part in someone else’s action without an explicit agreement, helping that action to be performed. 5. 40. Selective protein functionalisation via enzymatic phosphocholination

    Author : Philipp Ochtrop; Christian Hedberg; Tom Grossmann; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chemical biology; organic synthesis; site-selective protein labeling; PTM; phosphocholination; nucleotides; bioorthogonal chemistry; proteomics; IMPDH2;

    Abstract : Proteins are the most abundant biomolecules within a cell and are involved in all biochemical cellular processes ultimately determining cellular function. Therefore, to develop a complete understanding of cellular processes, obtaining knowledge about protein function and interaction at a molecular level is critical. READ MORE
