21. Epidemiologic studies of occupational and environmental exposures and cancer of the lung
Abstract : In order to study the importance of some less well-known occupational exposures and environmental factors in lung cancer etiology, a series of investigations were conducted in the Latium region of Italy, which includes the city of Rome. Five historical cohort studies were carried out on various occupational groups: power plant workers and merchant seamen with potential exposure to asbestos occupations with exposure to silica dust (silicotics receiving a disability compensation), and occupations withexposure to sulphuric acid mist (soap production workers) and to engine exhaust (taxi drivers). 22. Thermal and State-of-Charge Balancing of Batteries using Multilevel Converters
Abstract : Driven by the needs to reduce the dependence of fossil fuels and the emissions of conventional vehicles there has in recent years been an increasing interest in battery-powered electrified vehicles (xEVs). In xEVs, the battery pack, built from many small cells, is one of the most expensive components in the powertrain. READ MORE

23. Flip-Chip Interconnect for Millimeter-Wave Packaging Applications
Abstract : In recent years, with the demands for wireless communication systems increas rapidly, the operating frequency for the portable wireless is moving toward millimeter-waves. Millimeter-wave wireless communication systems require not only suitable functional IC components but also competent package with low cost and good interconnect performance. READ MORE

24. Analysis, Modeling and Control of Doubly-Fed Induction Generators for Wind Turbines
Abstract : This thesis deals with the analysis, modeling, and control of the doubly-fed induction machine used as a wind turbine generator. The energy efficiency of wind turbine systems equipped with doubly-fed induction generators are compared to other wind turbine generator systems. READ MORE

25. Common-Mode Aided Wireline Communications
Abstract : Wireline communication is the Internet access technology with the largest number of subscribers worldwide. On physical-layer level, the traditional way to transmit signals at one end of a wire pair and to extract receive signals at the other end is to apply differential-mode signalling: transmit and receive signals correspond to voltage differences between the two wires.
