16. Washing Machine Design Optimization Based on Dynamics Modeling
Abstract : The spinning process in a washing machine is a source of undesired vibrations and noise and may cause discomfort both to the user as well as for the machine itself due to vibrations which have impact on system lifetime, reliability of operation and capacity. The aim of this thesis is to develop mathematical and computational models of a washing machine of modern type and use these models for dynamics analysis and in optimization routines to make improvements of the machine mechanical design. 17. Multiscale methods for simulation of paper making
Abstract : In this work, multiscale methods for simulation of paper making are developed. The emphasis is on simulation of the paper forming process and simulation of the mechanical properties of paper sheets. To simulate paper forming, a novel fiber-fiber interaction method is proposed. READ MORE

18. Unveiling catalytic species in suspension/solution-based reactions by in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy
Abstract : The palladium (Pd) and ruthenium (Ru) species in several attractive catalysts have been probed using X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). The study of catalyst evolution in suspension- and solution-based reactions was the primary aim. It was achieved by performing in situ XAS experiments on Pd and Ru over the course of the reactions. 19. Saliva: a cell suspension of epithelial cells harboring the antimicrobial peptide LL-37 and the growth factor EGF
Abstract : Saliva plays a crucial role in maintaining oral health through its physical and chemical properties that provide various protective functions. One of its essential components is the human host defense peptide LL-37, which is produced by immune cells and epithelial cells, and participates in the first line of defense against pathogens. 20. Simulation of collective phenomena in microswimmer suspensions
Abstract : Collective motion is ubiquitous in biological and synthetic systems across manylength- and timescales. On the macroscopic scale, examples include schools of fish, herds of sheep and flocks of birds. On the microscopic scale, bacteria, algae and synthetic self-propelled particles exhibit a range of collective phenomena. READ MORE
