  1. 6. Designing Activity and Creating Experience : On People’s Play in Public places

    Author : Jon Back; Annika Waern; Barry Brown; Oskar Juhlin; Staffan Björk; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; game design; play; activity; experience; enjoyment; fun; människa-datorinteraktion; Human-machine interaction; Mobile Life; Mobile Life;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the design of play in public places; this can mean both pervasive games and other freer play activities. In these activities (as well as in many other game activities) the same game can spur many different ways to play it, and the same activity can be experienced differently by different players, and even differently on different occasions for the same player. 2. 7. Complex activity recognition and context validation within social interaction tools

    Author : Saguna Saguna; Christian Becker; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; context awareness; activity recognition; social networks; situation awareness; HCI; complex activity recognition; sensors; Prototype evaluation; SACAAR; OAT4CDAT; online activity toolkit; context driven activity theory; wearable computing; smart homes; presence; machine learning; Markov chains; Pervasive Mobile Computing; Distribuerade datorsystem;

    Abstract : Human activity recognition using sensing technology is crucial in achieving pervasive and ubiquitous computing paradigms. It can be applied in many domains such as health-care, aged-care, personal-informatics, industry, sports and military. READ MORE

  3. 8. Neighborhood environment and physical activity

    Author : Ulf Eriksson; kardiovaskulär epidemiologi och levnadsvanor Allmänmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; walkability; land use; residential density; physical activity pattern; accelerometer; public health; walking; GIS; physical activity; Neighborhood;

    Abstract : Introduction Insufficient levels of physical activity are one of the top contributors to global mortality, and it is an important public health priority to increase the proportion of physically active people in the population. The interest in environmental determinants of physical activity has been rapidly increasing over the past few years. READ MORE

  4. 9. Physical activity and energy expenditure in clinical settings using multisensor activity monitors

    Author : Daniel Arvidsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Physical activity; energy expenditure; children; activity monitors; multisensors; validity; reliability; congenital heart defects; aerobic fitness;

    Abstract : Background: Objective methods need to replace subjective methods for accurate quantification of physical activity. To be used in clinical settings objective methods have to show high reliability, validity and feasibility. The commonly used activity monitors are unable to detect the variety of physical activities. 5. 10. Disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis : Studies in interleukin-6, tumour necrosis factor alpha, monocyte activity, acute phase markers, glucocorticoids, and disability

    Author : Nils Gunnar Arvidson; Anders Larsson; Arvi Larsen; Øystein Førre; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; acute phase markers; circadian rhythm; disability; disease activity; glucocorticoids; monocyte activation; rheumatoid arthritis; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; Medicine; medicin;

    Abstract : In the present studies, aspects of some disease activity measures in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have been investigated, including the effect of glucocorticoids on this activity. In RA, serum interleukin(IL)-6 levels were elevated and were shown to have a circadian rhythm, with peak levels in the morning, declining towards low or normal levels in the afternoon and evening.
