  1. 26. Myocardial infarction personality factors, coping strategies, depression and secondary prevention

    Author : Mona Schlyter; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : Acute myocardial infarction; Personality factors; Coping strategies; depression; smoking cessation; Secondary prevention;

    Abstract : A longitudinal study with 400 patients diagnosed with myocardial infarction (MI) was conducted at the Cardiology department at Malmö University hospital in Sweden, between 2002 and 2005. The aim of the project was to identify personality and psychosocial factors, influencing patients’ actions and the prognoses after MI. READ MORE

  2. 27. Social determinants of leisure time physical activity, body mass index, and acute myocardial infarction

    Author : Sadiq Mohammad Ali; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; epidemiology; Folkhälsa; epidemiologi; Public health; acute myocardial infarction; obesity; overweight; underweight; leisure time physical activity; health locus of control; social capital; Socioeconomic status; psychosocial work conditions;

    Abstract : There are substantial socioeconomic differences in cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in most western countries. Socioeconomic differences in cardiovascular risk factors (obesity/overweight, tobacco smoking, leisure time physical activity, dietary habits) are correspondingly large. READ MORE

  3. 28. Myocardial infarction and cardiac regulation in relation to vibration exposure

    Author : Bodil Björ; Per Gustavsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : vibration exposure; myocardial infarction; cardiac regulation; exposure assessment; occupational exposure; epidemiology; cohort study; case-control study; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to assess the possible risk of myocardial infarction in work entailing exposure to vibration, and to study whether there is any relation between short-term exposure to vibration and cardiac regulation. Epidemiological methods were applied to investigate a possible association between occupational exposure to vibration and myocardial infarction. READ MORE

  4. 29. Biomarkers of Renal Function in Acute Coronary Syndromes

    Author : Axel Åkerblom; Stefan James; Lars Wallentin; Torbjörn Omland; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cystatin C; glomerular filtration rate; GFR; creatinine; acute coronary syndrome; ACS; kidney; renal; mortality; death; myocardial infarction; Cardiology; Kardiologi; Medicin; Medicine; Internal Medicine; Internmedicin;

    Abstract : The thesis aimed to investigate cystatin C and creatinine-based estimates of glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), both at admission and during follow-up, on the combined endpoint of cardiovascular death and myocardial infarction in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). We also evaluated two cystatin C assays and assessed genetic determinants of cystatin C concentrations. READ MORE

  5. 30. Early Risk Stratification, Treatment and Outcome in ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction

    Abstract : We evaluated, in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated with thrombolytics, admission Troponin T (tnT), ST-segment resolution and admission N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) for early risk stratification as well as time delays and outcome in real life patients according to prehospital or in-hospital thrombolytic treatment. Also, baseline characteristics, treatments and outcome in patients enrolled in the ASSENT-2 trial in Sweden and in patients not enrolled were evaluated. READ MORE
