  1. 11. Modelling of laser plasma interaction with applications to particle acceleration and radiation generation

    Author : Benjamin Svedung Wettervik; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plasma; ion acceleration; continuum methods; electron wakefield acceleration; raditation generation; coherent X-ray pulses; Vlasov-Maxwell equations;

    Abstract : The development of laser systems with ultra-high intensities has allowed the study of the relativistic interaction of laser light and ionized matter, plasmas, as well as opened up prospects for compact particle accelerators, generation of high intensity X-ray, XUV radiation, and probing QED-effects, which are present in the high intensity regime. To describe laser matter interaction, it is necessary to self-consistently account for the paths of a large number of particles and the corresponding electromagnetic fields, with the addition of stochastic effects at high laser intensities. 2. 12. Mitochondrial Genome Analysis Using Next Generation Sequencing for Forensic Applications

    Author : Kimberly Sturk-Andreaggi; Marie Allen; Antti Sajantila; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mitochondrial DNA; next generation sequencing; massively parallel sequencing; forensic genetics; nuclear mitochondrial DNA segment NUMT ; length heteroplasmy; haplogroup; quality control; population data; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) analysis plays a specialized role in forensic applications, overcoming certain limitations of autosomal DNA markers. The high copy number and uniparental inheritance pattern of mtDNA are advantageous in cases involving shed hairs and aged skeletal elements, especially decades-old missing persons cases. READ MORE

  3. 13. Integrated Software Pipelining

    Author : Mattias Eriksson; Christoph Kessler; Sid Ahmed Ali Touati; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Code generation; compilers; instruction scheduling; register allocation; spill code generation; modulo scheduling; integer linear programming; genetic programming.; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : In this thesis we address the problem of integrated software pipelining for clustered VLIW architectures. The phases that are integrated and solved as one combined problem are: cluster assignment, instruction selection, scheduling, register allocation and spilling. READ MORE

  4. 14. Low-temperature District Heating : Various Aspects of Fourth-generation Systems

    Author : Helge Averfalk; Sven Werner; Brian Elmegaard; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; District heating; low temperature; three-pipe systems; 4GDH-3P; District heating; low temperature; three-pipe systems; 4GDH-3P;

    Abstract : With decreasing heat demand and less availability of high-temperature heat supply in future energy systems, the current district heating systems may experience increased competition on the heat market. A viable option to mitigate increasing competition is to operate systems with lower temperature levels, and the most conceivable way to achieve lower temperature levels is to decrease return temperatures. 5. 15. Contributions to the generation of semantic editors

    Author : Emma Söderberg; Institutionen för datavetenskap; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The state-of-the-art in development tools today provides users with a large number of both syntactic and semantic services, such as syntax highlighting, name completions and refactorings. Preferably, every language should have sophisticated tool support, but unfortunately, the manual task of tool development is both time-consuming and error-prone, making it too costly for small language communities.
