  1. 1. Phage–derived Endolysins as Potential Antibacterials : A Study of Peptidoglycan Hydrolase and Mycolylarabinogalactan Esterase Enzymes

    Author : Adel Abouhmad; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antibacterial; Endolysin; Nanocrystals; Immobilization; Mycolylarabinogalactan esterase;

    Abstract : Bacteriophages, or phages, are viruses that infect bacteria, at the end of their life cycle produce a set of enzymes called endolysins to lyse host cells from within, facilitating the release of the viral progeny. Due to their lytic activity, endolysins have gained great interest as potential antibacterials targeting both Gram–positive and –negative bacteria, especially in the actual context of increasing rates of antibiotics resistance. 3. 3. All-fibre optical sensor system for chemical sensing based on fibre Bragg grating technology

    Author : Adel Asseh; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the realization of an all-fibresensor system for chemical sensing through the evanescentfield, based on fibre Bragg grating technology. The advantagesof all-fibre systems are most apparent for the potential userof the system. These systems are of small size, have highmobility, and require no precision alignment. READ MORE

  4. 4. Clinical Aspects on Chimney Stent Graft Technique in Endovascular Repair of the Aorta

    Author : Adel BinJabr; Vaskulära sjukdomar - kliniska studier; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chimney stent graft; chimney graft; chimney graft technique; snorkel technique; endovascular aortic repair; thoracic endovascular aortic repair; endoleak; patency; rupture; urgent; stent-graft; stent; graft; aorta; computed tomography; ultrasound; stenosis; EVAR; TEVAR; CTA; MRI; AAA; TAAA; supraaortic; visceral; aneurysm; dissection; mycotic infection; stent-graft infection; follow-up; endovascular complication; sandwich technique; periscope graft; periscope graft technique.;

    Abstract : Introduction: Open repair of the aorta carries a high risk for morbidity and mortality especially in the elderly population and in patients unfit for major surgery. Endovascular aortic repair is safe, durable and effective when there is adequate proximal and distal sealing zone for the aortic stent graft. READ MORE

  5. 5. Magnetic resonance imaging in chronic Achilles tendinopathy

    Author : Adel Shalabi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Achilles tendon; tendinopathy; MRI; gadolinium contrast; 3-D seed growing; surgery; eccentric training.;

    Abstract : The main objective of this thesis was to evaluate and monitor the morphological response following treatment interventions in patients with chronic Achilles tendinopathy by using different MRI-techniques. For this purpose. READ MORE
