  1. 16. Architectures and Protocols for Performance Improvements of Real-Time Networks

    Author : Kristina Kunert; Magnus Jonsson; Elisabeth Uhlemann; Eduardo Tovar; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Real-time communication; predictable deadline guarantees; real-time scheduling analysis; timing analysis; admission control; deterministic medium access; MAC; Quality of Service parameters; reliability; redundancy; retransmission scheme; ARQ; truncated ARQ; Automatic Repeat Request; wireless networks; IEEE 802.11; IEEE 802.15.4; fibre-optic networks; AWG; multichannel networks; industrial communications; embedded systems; Computer engineering; Datorteknik;

    Abstract : When designing architectures and protocols for data traffic requiring real-time services, one of the major design goals is to guarantee that traffic deadlines can be met. However, many real-time applications also have additional requirements such as high throughput, high reliability, or energy efficiency. READ MORE

  2. 17. High-Performance Network-on-Chip Design for Many-Core Processors

    Author : Boqian Wang; Zhonghai Lu; Kun-Chih Chen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Network-on-Chip; Chip Multi Many-core Processors; Multiprocessor System-on-Chip; High-Performance Computing; Cache Coherence; Virtual Channel Reservation; Admission Control; Artificial Neural Network; AXI4; Quality of Service; Network-on-Chip; Chip Multi Many-core Processors; Multiprocessor Sys-tem on a Chip; High-Performance Computing; Cache Coherence; Virtual Channel Reser-vation; Admission Control; Artificial Neural Network; AXI4; Quality of Servic; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Abstract : With the development of on-chip manufacturing technologies and the requirements of high-performance computing, the core count is growing quickly in Chip Multi/Many-core Processors (CMPs) and Multiprocessor System-on-Chip (MPSoC) to support larger scale parallel execution. Network-on-Chip (NoC) has become the de facto solution for CMPs and MPSoCs in addressing the communication challenge. READ MORE

  3. 18. Prioritization Procedures for Resource Management in Cellular Networks

    Author : Roland Zander; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Telekommunikationsteknik; Telecommunication engineering; admission control; resource management; cellular networks; prioritization procedures;

    Abstract : In order to be competitive, it is crucial for cellular operators to use their resources, such as spectrum and equipment, as effectively as possible. A more efficient usage of the available resources enables the operators to reduce the necessary deployment cost and/or to improve the offered Quality of Service in their networks. READ MORE

  4. 19. Experimental Investigation of Performance, Flow Interactions and Rotor Forcing in Axial Partial Admission Turbines

    Author : Jens Fridh; Torsten Fransson; Björn Laumert; Jürgen Seume; KTH; []

    Abstract : The thesis comprises a collection of four papers with preceding summary and supplementary appendices. The core investigation solely is of experimental nature although reference and comparisons with numerical models will be addressed. READ MORE

  5. 20. Pathogen colonisation, transmission and infection control measures in burn patients

    Author : Marie Lindblad; Fredrik Huss; Jyrki Vuola; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Whole-genome sequencing; Burn injury; Acinetobacter baumannii outbreak; infection control prevention; UVC decontamination;

    Abstract : Burn patients are susceptible to infections due to impaired natural defences when the epidermal barrier is damaged. Moreover, the trauma affects the patient's immune system through local and systemic inflammatory reactions. Adding to that, the need for intensive care treatment with multiple surgical interventions increases the risk of infection. READ MORE
