1. Clinical aspects of Adrenalectomy
Abstract : Annual rates of adrenalectomy have doubled in the last 20 years as a consequence of increased detection of adrenal incidentalomas, improved biochemical diagnosis, genetic screening, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Most adrenal incidentalomas are benign non-functional adrenocortical adenomas. READ MORE

2. Incidentally discovered adrenal tumours, adrenal metastases and pheochromocytomas - Clinical and epidemiological aspects
Abstract : With increasing use of high resolution radiological imaging incidentally discovered adrenal tumours (adrenal incidentalomas, AI) have become a common clinical problem. The aim of work-up and follow-up of patients with AI is to detect malignant (primary or metastatic) and/or hormone-producing tumours. READ MORE

3. Vesicle proteins as markers for neuroendocrine tumors
Abstract : The neuroendocrine (NE) tumours comprise a diversity of tumours which share commonproperties, e.g. the capacity to produce, store and release hormones. A prominent feature ofthe NE phenotype is the production of secretory granules with associated vescicle proteins,e. READ MORE

4. New Insights in Adrenal Tumourigenesis
Abstract : Unilateral cortisol producing adenoma (CPA) is the most common cause of ACTH-independent Cushing’s syndrome and is surgically curable. On the other hand, adrenocortical carcinomas (ACCs) are rare and aggressive tumours. READ MORE

5. Adrenal Bioactivation and Toxicity of 3-MeSO2-DDE, o,p´-DDD and DMBA Investigated in Tissue Slice Culture
Abstract : I developed a precision-cut adrenal slice culture procedure to investigate cytochrome P450 (CYP) catalysed irreversible binding and adrenocorticolytic effects in human, rodent, and fish adrenal tissue, ex vivo. Autoradiography and radioluminography of exposed tissue slices showed that the potent adrenal toxicant 3-methylsulphonyl-2,2´-bis(4-chlorophenyl)-1,1´-dichloroethene (MeSO2-DDE) causes a selective metabolite binding in zona fasciculata (ZF), which is diminished by the CYP11B1 inhibitor metyrapone.
