  1. 1. Avoiding ageing : Surface degradation of commercial electrode materials in lithium-ion batteries

    Author : Erik Björklund; Kristina Edström; Daniel Brandell; Reza Younesi; Frank Renner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Li-ion battery; Ageing; Photoelectron spectroscopy; Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide;

    Abstract : The battery market today expands rapidly, not least for electric vehicles. But to compete against the combustion engine, the cost of batteries must be reduced. After years of usage, the batteries degrade and need to be exchanged, increasing the cost over the vehicle lifecycle. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ageing of Asphalt Mixtures : Micro-scale and mixture morphology investigation

    Author : Prabir Kumar Das; Björn Birgisson; Nicole Kringos; Andreas Loizos; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Ageing; Aggregate packing; Atomic force microscopy; Asphalt mixture; Bitumen; Diffusion; Finite element analysis; Gradation; Micro-structure; Mixture morphology; Oxidative ageing; Surface ageing;

    Abstract : There are many variables that affect the viscoelastic properties of asphalt mixtures with time, among which age hardening may be considered one of the important ones. Age hardening of asphalt mixtures is an irreversible process, which contributes to a reduction of the durability of pavements and eventually increases the maintenance cost. READ MORE

    Abstract : The potential for recycling various polymeric materials contained within buildings constructed in the late 1960s and 1970s in Sweden was investigated during the course of this work. Three residential blocks were studied to establish the quantity of materials available for recycling, to investigate the difficulty in and time needed for the dismantling of the buildings, the degree of purity of the materials, and the possibility of separating the materials. 4. 4. Ageing well : mobile ICT as a tool for empowerment of elderly people in home health care and rehabilitation

    Author : Anita Melander-Wikman; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik;

    Abstract : The ageing of Europe's population is a crucial challenge for the 21st century. Today, the mean life expectancy in Sweden is 83 years for women and 78 for men. Ageing well is a frequently used process, describing the objectives of future elderly care and rehabilitation. READ MORE
