21. Essays on Consumption : - Aggregation, Asymmetry and Asset Distributions
Abstract : The dissertation consists of four self-contained essays on consumption. Essays 1 and 2 consider different measures of aggregate consumption, and Essays 3 and 4 consider how the distributions of income and wealth affect consumption from a macro and micro perspective, respectively. 22. Adsorption at the Solid-Liquid Interface: An Atomic Force Microscopy Study
Abstract : The aim of the work presented in this thesis was to investigate nature of adsorption of amphiphiles to the solid–liquid interface. The surface aggregate structures of the zwitterionic surfactant dodecyldimethylammoniopropanesulfonate, (DDAPS) and a series of nonionic polyoxyethlylene glycol alkyl ethers (C10E5, C12E5, C12E8, C10E6, C14E6 and C16E6) have been determined by Atomic Force Microscopy on solids of different hydrophobicity. 24. Tabletting behaviour of aggregates : Mechanistical conception and modulation by variations in aggregate physical properties
Abstract : The volume reduction mechanisms involved during compression of aggregates prepared from microcrystalline cellulose particles and effects of variations in their physical properties on their compression behaviour and compactability were studied in this thesis. The dominating volume reduction mechanisms during compression of aggregates prepared of MCC were deformation (bulk deformation and local deformation) parallel with densification, and generally the degree of fragmentation of the aggregates was minute. 25. Gradation-Based Framework for Asphalt Mixtures
Abstract : Asphalt mixture microstructure is formed by aggregates, bitumen binder and air voids. Aggregates make for up to 90% of the mixtures volume and the structure formed by them will depend mostly on their size distribution and shape. READ MORE
