1. Electron transport properties of graphene and graphene field-effect devices studied experimentally
Abstract : This thesis contains experimental studies on electronic transport properties of graphene with the Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect, thermopower (TEP) measurements, dual-gated graphene field effect devices, and quantum Hall effect (QHE). Firstly, in an effort to enhance the AB effect in graphene, we place superconducting-metal (aluminium) or normal-metal (gold) mirrors on the graphene rings. READ MORE

2. Towards graphene-based devices: Fabrication and characterization
Abstract : Graphene is a new material with a large set of impressive properties, interesting both for fundamental studies and applications. Reliable synthesis of large-scale, high-quality graphene is key to its future success. READ MORE

3. Fabrication and characterization of graphene-superconductor devices
Abstract : Graphene is the first single-atom-thick two-dimensional material and exhibits a large set of interesting properties. This thesis consists of two parts. The first regards the growth of large-area graphene using chemical vapor deposition (CVD). READ MORE

4. Correlation Effects in One-dimensional Electron Systems
Abstract : Theoretical studies suggest that an interacting one-dimensional electron system does not behave as a Fermi liquid. Instead, it is predicted to form a Luttinger liquid characterized e.g. by the absence of fermionic quasiparticles and interaction-dependent power-laws for transport quantities. READ MORE
