  1. 1. A Broad View on the Interpretation of Electromagnetic Data (VLF, RMT, MT, CSTMT)

    Author : Behrooz Oskooi; Laust Börsting Pedersen; Thorkild Mack Rasmussen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; Airborne; azimuthal anisotropy; CSTMT; distortion; EM; geothermal; Hengill; mineralization; MT; peaker; resolution; RMT; tipper; tensor VLF; VLF; Geofysik; Geophysics; Geofysik;

    Abstract : The resolution power of single Very Low Frequency (VLF) data and multi-frequency Radiomagnetotelluric (RMT) data in delineating conductive structures typical for the sedimentary cover and crystalline basement in Scandinavia is studied with a view to future developments of the technique to increasing the frequency range into the LW radio band. Airborne and ground VLF data are interpreted and correlated with RMT measurements made on the ground to better understand the resolution power of VLF data. READ MORE

  2. 2. Natural and Controlled Source Magnetotelluric Data Processing and Modeling

    Author : Chunling Shan; Thomas Kalscheuer; Laust Pedersen; Mehrdad Bastani; Thorkild Rasmussen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; Airborne Electromagnetic Method; Radio Magnetotellurics; Controlled Source Magnetotellurics; Electrical Resistivity Tomography; Moving Magnetotellurics; 2D inversion; 3D inversion;

    Abstract : In this thesis, four studies using different geophysical electromagnetic methods are presented. In the first study dealing with airborne measurements, the noise response due to the rotation of the aircraft and the aircraft itself as a metallic conductive body on the Earth's electromagnetic response in very low frequency and low frequency band was investigated. 3. 3. Inversion and Joint Inversion of Electromagnetic and Potential Field Data

    Author : Jochen Kamm; Ari Tryggvason; Laust B Pedersen; Mehrdad Bastani; Douglas Oldenburg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inversion; Electromagnetic methods; Joint inversion; Potential Field methods; Inversion; Elektromagnetische Verfahren; Joint-Inversion; Potentialverfahren; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Abstract : In this thesis, four inversion problems of different scale and difficulty are solved. Two of them are electromagnetic inverse problems. Two more are joint inversion problems of potential field data and other types of data. READ MORE

  4. 4. Synthetic-Aperture Radar Imaging of Forests in the VHF and UHF Bands: Electromagnetic Models and Data Analysis

    Author : Björn Hallberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; image formation; biomass mapping; Synthetic-aperture radar SAR ; ionospheric propagation; electromagnetic models; forest monitoring; remote sensing;

    Abstract : Synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) is a technique which can image the Earth’s surface, from a spaceborne or airborne platform, irrespective of daylight or cloud cover. During the last decades there has been an increasing interest in using SAR for estimation of forest parameters. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electromagnetic studies of the continental crust in Sweden

    Author : Mehran Gharibi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Abstract : Plane-wave electromagnetic methods are powerful tools for probing the earth from the surfaceto depths of a few hundred kilometers. The airborne VLF technique is widely used to map theelectrical conductivity variations of shallow geological structures. READ MORE
