  1. 1. Turbulence-resolving simulations for engineering applications

    Author : Bastian Nebenführ; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LES; Aeroacoustics; Forest canopy; Airframe noise; hybrid RANS LES; Turbulence-resolving simulation; Wind-turbine fatigue loads; Wind power;

    Abstract : Most fluid flows of industrial interest are turbulent and their accurate representation may be of vital importance for the design process of new products. To date, steady RANS methods are usually employed for the simulation of turbulent flows of everyday engineering problems. READ MORE

    Author : Konstantinos G. Kyprianidis; Stephen O. T. Ogaji; Riti Singh; Herbert Saravanmuttoo; UK Cranfield University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gas Turbine; Intercooled; Recuperated; Turbofan; Future; Simulation; Performance; Aircraft; Emissions; Multi-disciplinary; Jet Engine; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis describes various aspects of the development of a multi-disciplinary aero engine conceptual design tool, TERA2020 (Techno-economic, Environmental and Risk Assessment for 2020), based on an explicit algorithm that considers: engine performance, engine aerodynamic and mechanical design, aircraft design and performance, emissions prediction and environmental impact, engine and airframe noise, and production, maintenance and direct operating costs.As part of this research effort, a newly-derived semi-empirical NOx correlation for modern rich-burn single-annular combustors is proposed. 3. 3. Experiments and Modelling of Composite–Aluminium Bolted Joints

    Author : Hannes Wemming; Zlatan Kapidžić; Stefan B Lindström; Lars Johansson; Stefan Hallström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The aeronautical industry has always strived towards weight-efficient structures since they improve aircraft performance, enable more fuel or payload, reduce cost of manufacturing and operating the aircraft, and reduce the fuel consumption and emissions. Modern airframes are often built in materials with high strength-toweight and stiffness-to-weight ratio, such as aluminium or fibre composites. READ MORE

  4. 4. On Gas Turbine Conceptual Design

    Author : Konstantinos Kyprianidis; Vishal Sethi; Johan van der Spuy; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : The thesis begins with a review of the evolution of the industry's vision for the aero-engine design of the future. Appropriate research questions are set that can influence how this vision may further evolve in the years to come. READ MORE

  5. 5. Identification of State-Space Models from Time and Frequency Data

    Author : Tomas McKelvey; Lennart Ljung; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : This dissertation considers the identication of linear multivariable systems using finite dimensional time-invariant state-space models.Parametrization of multivariable state-space models is considered. A full parametrization, where all elements in the state-space matrices are parameters, is introduced. READ MORE
