  1. 1. Aspects of Wrapped Branes in String and M-Theory

    Author : Ling Bao; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Instantons; Algebraic symmetries; String theory;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of an introductory text together with five appended research papers. The Ariadne's thread through the whole thesis is various effects coming from high-dimensional p-branes in various subsectors of string and M-theory. READ MORE

  2. 2. The Lanczos potential, dimensionally dependent identities and algebraic Rainich theory

    Author : Anders Höglund; José M. M. Senovilla; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In this thesis three major topics are dealt with: the Lanczos potential, dimensionally dependent identities and algebraic Rainich theory.The Lanczos potential is a potential for the \Vey! curvature tensor or for a tensor v-·ith the same algebraic symmetries. READ MORE

  3. 3. Group classification of linear Schrödinger equations by the algebraic method

    Author : Célestin Kurujyibwami; Peter Basarab-Horwath; Roman Popovych; Rita Tracinà; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to the group classification of linear Schrödinger equations. The study of Lie symmetries of such equations was initiated more than 40 years ago using the classical Lie infinitesimal method for specific types of real-valued potentials. READ MORE

  4. 4. Kähler-Poisson Algebras

    Author : Ahmed Al-Shujary; Joakim Arnlind; Milagros Izquierdo; Sergei Silvestrov; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we introduce Kähler-Poisson algebras and study their basic properties. The motivation comes from differential geometry, where one can show that the Riemannian geometry of an almost Kähler manifold can be formulated in terms of the Poisson algebra of smooth functions on the manifold. 5. 5. Dimensionally dependent identities and the Lanczos potential

    Author : Anders Höglund; Göran Bergqvist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : To antisymmetrize over more indices than the number of dimensions gives a dimensionally dependent identity. In this thesis such identities for tensors, spinors and matrices are discussed and some new results are presented which generalise earlier results of Lovelock. READ MORE
