1. Alkali-enhanced gasification of biomass : laboratory-scale experimental studies
Abstract : Gasification seeks to break carbonaceous materials into synthetic gas (CO+H2) which can be subsequently upgraded into valuable products. Thus gasification can be utilized to convert low grade biomass stocks into carbon-neutral chemicals heat and power. READ MORE

2. Phthalocyanines on Surfaces : Monolayers, Films and Alkali Modified Structures
Abstract : The Phthalocyanines (Pc’s) are a group of macro-cyclic molecules, widely investigated due to the possibility to use them in a variety of applications. Electronic and geometrical structure investigations of molecular model systems of Pc’s adsorbed on surfaces are important for a deeper understanding of the functionality of different Pc-based devices. 3. Alkali Release and Effects on Biomass Thermal Conversion Processes
Abstract : High alkali content is an important feature of biomass, and it has a series of implications for thermal conversion processes. This thesis focuses on the release of alkali during various biomass thermal conversion processes, including biomass pyrolysis, char gasification, co-conversion of different types of biomass, and thermal conversion of biomass mixed with fresh and used bed materials. 4. Alkali Induced Corrosion of 304L, The Influence of Potassium Salts and Water Vapour
Abstract : This work investigates the influence of alkali salts on the oxidation of304-type (Fe18Cr10Ni) austenitic stainless steel in laboratory and fieldexposures. Stainless steel coupons were exposed isothermally inlaboratory furnaces at 400-600 °C in 5% O2 and 5% O2 + 40% H2O.Thermobalance exposures were also performed. READ MORE

5. Alkali Metal Adsorption on Metals Studied by Hiqh Resolution Core Level Spectroscopy and Low Energy Electron Diffraction
Abstract : Alkali metal adsorption on metals is studied by High Resolution Core Level Spectroscopy (HRCLS) and Low Energy Electron Diffraction (LEED). The studies can be divided into two parts: adsorption of alkali multilayers and alkali adsorption in the submonolayer regime. READ MORE
