  1. 16. High performing cast aluminium-silicon alloys

    Author : Martin Riestra; Salem Seifeddine; Ehsan Ghassemali; Jessica Elfsberg; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aluminium cast alloys; melt quality; eutectic modification; grain refinement; microstructure; tensile properties;

    Abstract : The need to produce lighter components due to environmental aspects and the development of electrical vehicles represents an opportunity for cast aluminium-silicon alloys. With high specific strength, good castability, high corrosion resistance and recyclability, these alloys offer an attractive combination of properties as an alternative to steel, cast iron and titanium-based components in certain applications. 2. 17. Microstructure development and mechanical properties of cast and thermo-mechanically treated eutectic high-entropy alloys

    Author : Adrianna Lozinko; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; strength-ductility trade-off; eutectic alloys; recrystallization; EBSD; heterogeneous structure; high-entropy alloys;

    Abstract : The recently emerging high-entropy alloys (HEAs) present a novel alloying strategy, significantly expanding the scope of metal alloy design. Single-phase HEAs, nevertheless, suffer from the strength-ductility trade off as seen in conventional metallic materials. READ MORE

  3. 18. Modelling mechanical properties by analysing datasets of commercial alloys

    Author : Johan Zander; Rolf Sandström; Stanislaw Zajac; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aluminium alloys; modelling; material optimisation; mechanical properties; solid solution hardening; precipitation hardening; work-hardening; multiple regression; stainless steel; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Commercial alloys are continuously developed to improve their performance. Therefore it is important to develop new optimisation software, which could be used in development of new materials or in materials selection. In this study the mechanical properties which are important in materials selection in mechanical design are investigated. READ MORE

  4. 19. Atomic Scale Degradation of Zirconium Alloys for Nuclear Applications

    Author : Gustav Sundell; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Irradiation damage; Hydrogen microanalysis; Hydrogen pick-up; Zirconium alloys; Atom probe tomography; Corrosion;

    Abstract : Due to their low thermal neutron capture cross-section, zirconium alloys are widely used in the nuclear industry as fuel cladding and for structural components. The lifetime of the fuel assemblies in the reactors is primarily dictated by the ability of the cladding to withstand oxidation and hydrogen pick-up from the coolant water and radiation damage induced by the neutron flux. 5. 20. Alloy Design and Optimization of Mechanical Properties of High-Entropy Alloys

    Author : Saad Ahmed Sheikh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ductility; topologically closed-pack TCP and geometrically closed-pack GCP phase; alloy design; mechanical properties; High-entropy alloys; refractory high-entropy alloys; valence electron concentration;

    Abstract : High-entropy alloys (HEAs) are described as alloys containing multi-principal elements in equal or close to equal atomic percentage. HEAs are considered as potential structural materials for high-temperature applications; where alloy design and optimization of mechanical properties is extremely critical. READ MORE
