  1. 1. Mandibular alveolar bone mass, structure and thickness in relation to skeletal bone density in dentate women

    University dissertation from Göteborg : Göteborg University

    Author : Grethe Jonasson; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2005]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bone loss; mandible; human; alveolar process; masseter muscle; bone structure;

    Abstract : The aim of this series of studies was to investigate the relationship between skeletal bone mineral density (BMD) and mandibular alveolar bone mass (MABM), structure, and thickness, as well as to evaluate the possible effect of local functional factors on MABM and alveolar thickness. A further aim was to elucidate whether longitudinal changes in mandibular radiographic characteristics and the bucco-lingual dimension of the alveolar process were related to alterations of BMD. 2. 2. Aspects of maxillary sinus reconstruction with endosseous implants

    University dissertation from Swedish Dental Journal

    Author : John Eric Blomqvist; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1998]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Odontologi; Odontology; stomatology; sinus inlay bone augmentation.; osteomorphometry; osteometry; maxillary sinus reconstruction; maxilla; bone graft; Alveolar bone loss; dental implants; implant position; bone;

    Abstract : This study of maxillary sinus reconstruction in conjunction with insertion of endosseous implants included 99 patients. Two separate surgical methods were applied; a one-staged strategy (n=49) and a two-staged strategy (n=50). The aims were to compare two different strategies concerning implant and prosthetic construction survival. READ MORE

  3. 3. Bone tissue regeneration indento-alveolar surgery clinical and experimental studies on biomaterials and bone graft substitutes

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Author : Annika Sahlin-Platt; Umeå universitet.; [2011]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biomaterials; bone graft substitutes; compomer; root end filling; Bio-Oss; Bioactive glass 45S5; Algipore; SEM EDAX; ICP-OES; Cryo-XPS;

    Abstract : Pathological processes in the alveolar and facial bones can lead to bone loss that may not heal with complete regeneration. Biomaterials can be used to facilitate the healing process and/or as a bone substitute, but the mechanisms are not fully understood. READ MORE

  4. 4. On tissue reactions to and resorption of bone substitutes

    University dissertation from Faculty of Odontology, Malmö University

    Author : Arne Mordenfeld; Malmö University.; [2013]
    Keywords : ODONTOLOGY; ODONTOLOGI; Medicine; bone graft; bone substitutes; sinus floor augmentation; lateral ridge augmentation;

    Abstract : Background: The increasing need for bone grafting procedures in implant dentistry and the introduction of a variety of bone substitutes require a deeper understanding of the biological response and shortand long-term behaviour of these materials to choose the adequate graft and surgical procedure for the intended clinical application. Aims: The overall aim was to clinically and histologically study the short- and long-term tissue reactions to and resorption of bone substitutes after bone augmentation. READ MORE
