  1. 6. Ambient air pollution and transportation noise : how they affect mental health in older adults

    Author : Jing Wu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Whether environmental factors are associated with mental health issues among older adults remains unclear. This doctoral thesis aimed to determine the extent to which air pollution and transportation noise affect mental health in older adults. We used data from the Swedish National study on Aging and Care-Kungsholmen (SNAC-K). Study I PM2. READ MORE

  2. 7. Low-Power HEMT LNAs for Quantum Computing

    Author : Yin Zeng; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; low-noise amplifier; qubit; Cryogenic; InP HEMT.; quantum computing; low-power;

    Abstract : The rapid development of quantum computing technology predicts much more qubits to handle in the detection, readout, and amplification of qubits than in today's system. Due to the limited cooling capability of the dilution refrigerator, the current low-noise amplifiers (LNAs) are in need of ten to hundred times reduced dc power consumption yet with lowest noise temperature at qubit readout frequencies, typcially 4-12 GHz. 3. 8. Cryogenic InP High Electron Mobility Transistors in a Magnetic Field

    Author : Isabel Harrysson Rodrigues; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; magnetic field; cryogenic; low noise amplifier; angular dependence; InP HEMT; geometrical magnetoresistance;

    Abstract : The InGaAs-InAlAs-InP high electron mobility transistor (InP HEMT) is the preferred active device used in a cryogenic low noise amplifier (LNA) for sensitive detection of microwave signals. In this thesis it is demonstrated that the InP HEMT, when placed in a magnetic field, has a strong angular dependence in its output current. READ MORE

  4. 9. Environmental factors in cardiovascular disease

    Author : Mats Rosenlund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Myocardial infarction; case-control study; aircraft noise; environmental tobacco smoke; ETS; drinking water; hardness; magnesium; calcium; air pollution; long-term; geographical information system; GIS;

    Abstract : Cardiovascular disease is the main cause of death in Sweden and other developed countries. The purpose of this thesis is to assess the role of certain environmental factors in the etiology of cardiovascular disease, expressed as hypertension and myocardial infarction, focusing on aircraft noise, environmental tobacco smoke, drinking water hardness, and ambient air pollution. 5. 10. InP HEMT Technology and Applications

    Author : Anders Mellberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Indium phosphide InP ; cryogenic LNA; high electron mobility transistor HEMT ; metal-insulator-metal capacitor; MODFET; thin film resistor; semiconductor device fabrication; MMIC;

    Abstract : Indium phosphide high electron mobility transistors (InGaAs/InAlAs/InP HEMTs) exhibit the highest cut-off frequencies and the lowest microwave noise figures of all transistor technologies. Both InP HEMT technology and associated circuit demonstrators are therefore interesting to explore further. READ MORE
