1. Deciphering sequence data : A multivariate approach
Abstract : In this thesis, attention has been focused on the quantitative description of nucleic acids, proteins and peptides. The strategy was to use multivariate chemometrical methods for improving the understanding of the complex structural codes of these kinds of biological molecules. READ MORE

2. In vivo analysis of amino acid permease folding in yeast
Abstract : Plasma membrane (PM) proteins are critical for cells to respond to environmental cues, such as the availability of nutrients. The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is able to sense extracellular amino acids using the SPS sensing system. READ MORE

3. Characterization of Amino Acid tRNA Ligases using the Analytical Ultracentrifuge
Abstract : ABSTRACT. Quaternary structures of amino acid tRNA ligases/synthetases (aaRS) in the native as well as in denatured forms were examined by molecular weight determinations (paper I-IV). Analytical ultracentrifugation, gel electrophoresis, gel chromatography were used in these investigations. READ MORE

4. Cytochrome P450 Enzymes in Bile Acid Biosynthesis and Fatty Acid Metabolism : Studies on Members of the Porcine CYP4A and CYP8B Subfamilies
Abstract : The present investigation is devoted to studies on porcine members of the cytochrome P450 4A (CYP4A) and CYP8B1 subfamilies, which are involved in bile acid biosynthesis and fatty acid metabolism. Hyocholic acid is considered to fulfil the requirements for trihydroxy bile acids in the domestic pig (Sus scrofa) in the absence of cholic acid. READ MORE

5. Expression of Manganese Lipoxygenase and Site-Directed Mutagenesis of Catalytically Important Amino Acids : Studies on Fatty Acid Dioxygenases
Abstract : Polyunsaturated fatty acids can be bioactivated by two families of dioxygenases, which either contain non-heme iron (lipoxygenases) or heme (cyclooxygenases, linoleate diol synthases and α-dioxygenases).Lipoxygenases and their products play important roles in the pathophysiology of plants and fungi.
