    Abstract : The thesis consists of three independent parts.Part I: Polynomial amoebasWe study the amoeba of a polynomial, as de ned by Gelfand, Kapranov and Zelevinsky. A central role in the treatment is played by a certain convex function which is linear in each complement component of the amoeba, which we call the Ronkin function. READ MORE

    Author : Salah Shanan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Microbial contamination of water is a major public concern due to outbreaks of cholera, giardiasis and cryptosporidiosis. Despite this, a large number of bacteria, protozoa and viruses can be found in water. READ MORE

  4. 9. Amoebas and Laurent series

    Author : Mikael Forsberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The amoeba of a polynomialpis the logarithmic image of the zero set of thepolynomial. l/pcan be developed into several Laurent series. Thelogarithmic image of every such Laurent series have a domain ofconvergence and its loga rithmic image is a component of thecomplement of the amoeba of p. This is the background for thethesis subjett. READ MORE

  5. 10. Effect of virulence factors on survival strategies of vibrio cholerae and vibrio mimicus

    Author : Soni Priya Valeru; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Vibrio cholerae;

    Abstract : Vibrio is a genus of gram-negative bacteria comprising nearly 70 species and they are clinically human pathogens that can cause many infections. This study is mainly based on two species such as Vibrio cholerae O1 El Tor, which cause cholera disease and Vibrio mimicus, that cause gastroenteritis, open wounds infection, and septicemia.
