21. Outcomes of invasive treatment in chronic limb-threatening ischaemia
Abstract : Background In chronic limb-threatening ischaemia (CLTI), obstruction of the arterial blood flow causes ischaemic rest pain, ulcers or gangrene in the lower extremities. Patients with CLTI have a substantial risk of amputation unless the blood flow is improved, which requires invasive treatment through either open surgery or endovascular intervention. READ MORE

22. Clinical and Biochemical Features of Adult Diabetes Mellitus in Sudan
Abstract : The high prevalence of diabetes mellitus among the Sudanese population is linked to obesity, poor glycaemic control and a high rate of complications. This study investigated 1/ Leptin hormone and its correlations with different biochemical characteristics in Sudanese diabetic subjects, 2/ The impact of glycaemic control on pregnancy outcome in pregnancies with diabetes, 3/ The glycaemic response to Sudanese traditional carbohydrate foods, 4/ The influence of glucose self-monitoring on the glycaemic control among this population, 5/ The health related quality of life in Sudanese subjects with diabetes-related lower limb amputation. 23. Major lower limb amputation in peripheral arterial disease : treatment outcome, risk factors, and health-related quality of life
Abstract : Critical limb ischemia is the end stage of peripheral arterial disease. These patients have a high risk of amputation and death regardless of revascularization. One of the most important questions for the patient and the surgeon is the risk of amputation despite a revascularization attempt. READ MORE

24. Aspects on intra-arterial thrombolysis for lower limb ischemia
Abstract : Background: Acute ischemia of the lower limb is a vascular emergency associated with amputation and death. Patients suffering from acute limb ischemia are usually elderly, and multiple comorbidities are often present. Intra-arterial thrombolysis is, perhaps, the most important minimal-invasive treatment option available today. READ MORE

25. Outcome of Ischaemic Foot Ulcers in Patients with Diabetes, with or without Revascularization
Abstract : The aim of the studies presented in this thesis was to study patients with diabetes and severe peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in regard to outcomes of foot ulcers, factors related to outcomes, and occurrences of new ulcerations and amputations following healing of the initial ulcer. Patients with diabetes and a foot ulcer, consecutively presenting at a multidisciplinary foot centre, with a systolic toe pressure . READ MORE
