  1. 11. Aspects of intravenous anaesthesia

    Author : Jan Gelberg; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Background:Developments in anaesthesia during the recent decades include new drugs with limited unwanted side effects and the need for anaesthesia in new interventions, together with new groups of patients that in the past were considered to be beyond help. Aims:Study I: To determine the bolus dose of remifentanil that depresses the ventilatory drive as deeply as 1 µg/kg of fentanyl. READ MORE

  2. 12. Anaesthesia and Genetics of the Ryanodine 1 Receptor

    Author : Marcus Ewert Broman; Lund Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; General Anaesthesia; Ryanodine 1 Receptor; Malignant Hyperthermia; Genetics;

    Abstract : The only validated method to characterize the phenotype and to reach a definitive diagnosis of Malignant Hyperthermia Susceptibility (MHS; OMIM *145600), a pharmacogenetic disease linked to the Ryanodine 1 receptor gene (RYR1; OMIM *180901), is an invasive muscle contraction test requiring a muscle biopsy, according to the European (IVCT) protocol or to the North American (CHCT) protocol. The series of scientific papers in this thesis tries to reach as far as possible in diagnosing MHS from peripheral venous blood samples collected at the patients’ local primary care provider and sent to the laboratory over significant transportation time and distance. 3. 13. Gas exchange with a reflecting system for inhalational anaesthesia

    Author : Louise Walther Sturesson; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; anesthetic conserving device; inhalational anaesthesia; carbon dioxide; Gas exchange;

    Abstract : In order to reduce comsumption of inhalational anaesthetsics during high flow anaesthesia a system open in regard to oxygen, nitogen and nitrous oxide, but closed to inhalational anaesthetics, was developed. This was achieved by a reflecting filter for inhalational anaesthetics made of active carbon. READ MORE

  4. 14. Awareness and Dreaming during Anaesthesia : Incidence and Importance

    Author : Peter Samuelsson; Rolf Sandin; Claes Lennmarken; Johan Raeder; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anaesthetics; Anestesiologi;

    Abstract : The definition of awareness used consistently in this thesis is: Explicit recall of intraoperative events during general anaesthesia. Since there is no objective method to detect awareness, the patients must be interviewed after anaesthesia. The form and timing of the interview is crucial. READ MORE

  5. 15. Airway management in anaesthesia care : – professional and patient perspectives
