16. Crystallization of Parabens : Thermodynamics, Nucleation and Processing
Abstract : In this work, the solubility of butyl paraben in 7 pure solvents and in 5 different ethanol-water mixtures has been determined from 1 ˚C to 50 ˚C. The solubility of ethyl paraben and propyl paraben in various solvents has been determined at 10 ˚C. READ MORE

17. Interrogation of drug effects on the lipid composition of single cells and Drosophila brain using ToF-SIMS imaging
Abstract : Lipids are essential for all living organisms on Earth. The most important function of lipids is that they act as the building blocks of cellular membranes. Lipids consist of polar head groups and non-polar tail groups and assemble into bilayer structures to create cell and organelle membranes. READ MORE

18. Investigation of the functionality related characteristics of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose for the release from matrix tablets
Abstract : Hydrophilic matrix tablets are a compressed well mixed composite of drug substance and excipients including a hydrophilic polymer. When the tablet comes in contact with biological fluids, the hydrophilic polymer starts to dissolve, a process that decreases the water penetration through the tablet and involves dimensional changes of the tablet due to swelling of the solvated polymers. 19. Development of analytical methods for the determination of the small molecule component of complex biological systems
Abstract : The research field of untargeted metabolomics aims to determine the relative abundance of all small metabolites in a biological system in order to find biomarkers or make biological inference with regards to the internal or external stimuli. This is no trivial aim, as the small metabolites are both vast in numbers and extremely diverse in their chemical properties. READ MORE

20. Enantiomeric separations by capillary electrophoresis in pharmaceutical analysis
Abstract : The chiral capillary electrophoresis mechanism is studied by evaluating the enantiomeric separations of a series of local anaesthetic analogues, the sixteen different optical isomers of a tetrapeptide and a series of glycyl, alanyl and leucyl dipeptides. The usefulness of mobility difference plots is appraised and important method parameters, such as the selection of the chiral selector, the chiral selector concentration, the chiral selector purity, the pH and the composition of the electrophoresis solution, are identified and discussed, bearing method robustness in mind.
