1. Mercury species transformations in marine and biological systems studied by isotope dilution mass spectrometry and stable isotope tracers
Abstract : This thesis focuses on the implementation of species-specific isotope dilution (SSID) methodology and stable isotope tracers to determine mercury species occurrence and transformation processes in-situ and during sample treatment. Isotope enriched tracers of methyl-, ethyl- and inorganic mercury were synthesised and applied in different combinations to marine and biological samples. READ MORE

2. Methodology for evaluation of hazards from solid waste and landfill-generated leachate
Abstract : A methodology based on an analytical protocol for evaluation of hazards from landfill leachate and solid waste is described. A dynamic analytical protocol, the LAQUA protocol, including measurements of inorganic and water-quality parameters, polar and non-polar organic marker compounds, and toxicity, was constructed. 4. Development of analytical methods for the determination of the small molecule component of complex biological systems
Abstract : The research field of untargeted metabolomics aims to determine the relative abundance of all small metabolites in a biological system in order to find biomarkers or make biological inference with regards to the internal or external stimuli. This is no trivial aim, as the small metabolites are both vast in numbers and extremely diverse in their chemical properties. READ MORE

5. Development and evaluation of analytical techniques for antibodies and antibody-drug conjugates : From verification of conjugation to stability testing
Abstract : Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) are becoming increasingly important in oncology. ADCs are inherently heterogeneous analytes. For a successful drug candidate to go through to the clinic, extensive characterization and evaluation of the constructs are necessary. READ MORE
