  1. 1. Phylogenetic and ecological studies in lichenology : including studies of both mycobiont and photobiont

    Author : Åsa Dahlkild; Anders Tehler; Ingvar Kärnefelt; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phylogeny; ecology; lichen; photobiont; mycobiont; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni;

    Abstract : In this thesis different aspects in lichens are investigated, namely, the phylogeny of mycobiont and photobiont, and ecology in the form of species richness of certain habitats of the Uppland province, Sweden.Analyses of ITS sequences of the lichenized fungi genus Roccella (Roccellaceae) provide an intrageneric topology of the genus with emphasis on the European, Mediterranean and Macaronesian species. 2. 2. Electropermutation assisted by ion-exchange textile : removal of nitrate from drinking water

    Author : Carl-Ola Danielsson; Anders Dahlkild; Mårten Behm; Anna Velin; Gerald Pourcelly; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ion-exchange textile; Ion-exchange membrane; Electropermutation; Electroextraction; Electrodialysis; Electrodeionisation; Modeling; Conducting spacer; Nitrate removal; Water treatment; Water dissociation; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Abstract : Increased levels of nitrate in ground water have made many wells unsuitable as sources for drinking water. In this thesis an ion-exchang eassisted electromembrane process, suitable for nitrate removal, is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. READ MORE

  3. 3. Computational modelling of blood flow in medical assist devices

    Author : Francesco Fiusco; Lisa Prahl Wittberg; Lars Mikael Broman; Anders Dahlkild; David Ku; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; computational fluid dynamics; haemodynamics; platelet activation; thrombogenicity; haemolysis; extracorporeal membrane oxygenation; sensitivity; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Abstract : Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a life-saving support treat-ment in case of pulmonary and/or cardiac failure. An artificial extracorporealcircuit is used to offload the function of lungs and/or heart. READ MORE

  4. 4. Mechanical modelling of blade forming and drainage of flocculated suspensions

    Author : Claes Holmqvist; Anders Dahlkild; Douglas Bousfield; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Applied mechanics; blade forming; pressure distribution; interaction; suction; drainage; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : A method has been developed for flexible modelling of multi-component twin-wire blade formers. Features such as suction devices, loadable blades, curved blades, and partial contact between the blades and the forming fabrics are easily incorporated. READ MORE

  5. 5. Fibre Orientation Modelling Applied to Contracting Flows Related to Papermaking

    Author : Marko Hyensjö; Anders Dahlkild; Markku Kataja; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fokker-Planck; fibre orientation; shear flow; fibre suspension; planar contraction; headbox; turbulent flow; Other engineering mechanics; Övrig teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : The main goal of this work was to develop numerical models for studying the behaviour of fibres in an accelerated flow. This is of special interest for e.g. papermaking. READ MORE
