  1. 21. On modelling of postglacial gravity change

    Author : Per-Anders Olsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; accurate predictions of the gravity change are important for e.g. reductions of geodetic observations to a reference epoch. During the last decade; Glacial isostatic adjustment GIA is the Earth s response to glacial-induced load variations on its surface. This phenomenon can today be observed in; contribute different and complemental information on the phenomenon. Knowledge of the gravitational component is important for understanding the underlying geodynamical processes. Further; such as vertical and horizontal deformation of the crust; efforts to observe the surface gravity change in Fennoscandia have been intensified and the observational accuracy successively improved. This offers new possibilities at the same time as it puts new demands on modelling. The purpose of this thesis is to study some aspects of the modelling of GIA-induced gravity change; North America and Fennoscandia. Different observables; relative sea level change and disturbances in the gravity field; for example;

    Abstract : Glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) is the Earth's response to glacial-induced load variations on its surface. This phenomenon can today be observed in, for example, North America and Fennoscandia. READ MORE

  2. 22. Design, Synthesis, and Structure-Activity Relationships Analysis of Potential Inhibitors of the Serine Protease Thrombin and the Malarial Aspartic Proteases Plasmepsin I and II

    Author : Anders Dahlgren; Thomas Olsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The design, synthesis, and structure-activity relationships analysis of some potential protease inhibitors are outlined in this thesis. In particular, the serine protease thrombin and the malarial aspartic proteases plasmepsin I and II (Plm I and II) are described in regard to the roles they play in living organisms, and that is followed by discussions concerning the design, synthesis, and biological test results of inhibitors of these enzymes. 3. 23. Piezoelectric Generation and Damping of Extensional Waves in Bars

    Author : Anders Jansson; Bengt Lundberg; Urmas Valdek; Peter Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Technology; Piezoelectric; wave; generation; damping; bar; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the electromechanical processes of generation and damping of transient waves in bars with attached piezoelectric members. In particular, the influence of amplifier and electrical circuitry on the mechanical waves is of interest. READ MORE

  4. 24. Androgen receptors and endocrine disrupting substances

    Author : Anders Larsson; Per-Erik Olsson; Björn Brunström; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Androgen receptor; Brominated flame retardant; TBECH; Endocrine disruptor; Biology; Biologi; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Biology; Biologi;

    Abstract : Throughout the animal kingdom, organisms are dependent on substances such as steroid hormones to help them maintain internal balances. Examples of important tasks that are under regulation of steroid hormones are somatic and gonadal development, sexual performance and behavior (both social and sexual) as well as sex differentiation. 5. 25. From blended learning to learning onlife : ICTs, time and access in higher education

    Author : Anders Norberg; Nafsika Alexiadou; Eva Mårell-Olsson; Isa Jahnke; Pavel Zgaga; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; blended learning; distance learning; e-learning; online learning; ICTs; synchronous learning; asynchronous learning; philosophy of information; learning onlife; pedagogiskt arbete; educational work;

    Abstract : Information and Communication Technologies, ICTs, has now for decades being increasingly taken into use for higher education, enabling distance learning, e-learning and online learning, mainly in parallel to mainstream educational practise. The concept Blended learning (BL) aims at the integration of ICTs with these existing educational practices. READ MORE
