  1. 1. Cathodoluminescence Studies of Quantum Structures and III-V nitrides

    Author : Anders Petersson; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; AlGaN; Fysik; Physics; GaN-AlGaN; single dot spectroscopy; InP-GaInP; Stranski Krastanow; quantum dots; quantum wires; low-dimensional structures; InAs-GaAs; III-V nitride; Cathodoluminescence; III-V semiconductors; Fysicumarkivet A:1999:Petersson;

    Abstract : Characterization of low-dimensional semiconductor structures is a challenging task. The thesis is based on experiments, using cathodoluminescence (CL) as a tool for characterization. The high spatial resolution and the possibility of spectroscopy of small structures make CL one of the most powerful techniques for these types of investigations. READ MORE

  2. 2. Cemented Carbide Sintering : Constitutive Relations and Microstructural Evolution

    Author : Anders Petersson; KTH; []
    Keywords : Cemented carbides; Sintering; Constitutive relations; Microstructure; Densification; Modelling;

    Abstract : Cemented carbides based on tungsten carbide and cobalt arecommonly produced by a powder metallurgy route including liquidphase sintering. The pressed compact densifies to almost halfits volume during sintering due to pore elimination. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ion Beam Analysis of First Wall Materials Exposed to Plasma in Fusion Devices

    Author : Per Petersson; Göran Possnert; Anders Hallén; Marek Rubel; Eduardo C. Alves; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ion beam analysis; Microbeam; Plasma wall interaction; Deuterium; Beryllium; Carbon fibre composites; Divertor; Nuclear reaction analysis; Helium-3; Plasma physics with fusion; Plasmafysik med fusion; Ion Physics; Jonfysik;

    Abstract : One major step needed for fusion to become a reliable energy source is the development of materials for the extreme conditions (high temperature, radioactivity and erosion) caused by hot plasmas. The main goal of the present study is to use and optimise ion beam methods (lateral resolution and sensitivity) to characterise the distribution of hydrogen isotopes that act as fuel. READ MORE

  4. 4. A numerical study of two-fluid models for dispersed two-phase flow

    Author : Reynir Levi Gudmundsson; Björn Sjögreen; Anders Petersson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Numerical analysis; two-phase flow; two-fluid mode; well-posedness; numerical experiments; Numerisk analys; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Abstract : In this thesis the two-fluid (Eulerian/Eulerian) formulation for dispersed two-phase flow is considered. Closure laws are needed for this type of models. We investigate both empirically based relations, which we refer to as a nongranular model, and relations obtained from kinetic theory of dense gases, which we refer to as a granular model. READ MORE

  5. 5. New methods for optimization of mechanical ventilation

    Author : Peter Kostic; Peter Frykholm; Anders Larsson; Johan Petersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mechanical ventilation; optoelectronic plethysmography; forced oscillation technique; laser interferometry; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Abstract : Mechanical ventilation saves lives, but it is an intervention fraught with the potential for serious complications. Prevention of these complications has become the focus of research and critical care in the last twenty years. READ MORE
