  1. 1. Sarcoidosis : inflammatory mechanisms and markers of activity

    Author : Anders Planck; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Sarcoidosis; HLA class II; T-lymphocytes; CD4-CD8 ratio; T cell receptor; angiotensin-converting enzyme; apoptosis;

    Abstract : Sarcoidosis is a disease characterized by an accumulation of CD4+ T-lymphocytes in affected organs. Previous findings of an association between the HLA-allele DR17 and an accumulation in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) of CD4+ T-lymphocytes expressing the T-cell receptor (TCR) V gene segment AV2S3, is in line with an aetiological hypothesis claiming that sarcoidosis is elicited by a specific antigen(s) in genetically predisposed individuals. 2. 2. Fibre Orientation Modelling Applied to Contracting Flows Related to Papermaking

    Author : Marko Hyensjö; Anders Dahlkild; Markku Kataja; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fokker-Planck; fibre orientation; shear flow; fibre suspension; planar contraction; headbox; turbulent flow; Other engineering mechanics; Övrig teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : The main goal of this work was to develop numerical models for studying the behaviour of fibres in an accelerated flow. This is of special interest for e.g. papermaking. READ MORE

  3. 3. Eulerian Numerical Study of the Sedimentation of Fibre Suspensions

    Author : Feng Zhang; Anders Dahlkild; Fredrik Lundell; Staffan Lundström; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fokker-Planck equation; particle fluid flow; suspension; instability;

    Abstract :  Sedimenting suspensions exist in a varity of natural phenomena and industrial applications. It is already observed in experiments that the dilute fibre suspensions experience a hydrodynamics instability under gravity at low Reynolds numbers. Initially well-mixed suspensions become inhomogeneous and anisotropic due to this instability. READ MORE
