  1. 1. Wideband Active and Passive Antenna Solutions for Handheld Terminals

    Author : Peter Lindberg; Anders Rydberg; Anders Pers; Nicholas Buris; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering physics; active antennas; impedance matching; dipole antennas; baluns; slot antennas; microstrip antennas; mobile antennas; multifrequency antennas; antenna proximity factors; receiving antennas; ferrite devices; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents solutions and studies related to the design of wideband antennas for wireless handheld terminal applications. A method of electrically shortening the terminal chassis length to obtain resonance at high frequencies has been proposed and evaluated, thereby increasing the antennas impedance bandwidth. Abstract : This licentiate thesis cover two important subjects regarding the application of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Both subjects are related to propagation mechanisms. The first subject is what the radio channel looks like and how it behaves. READ MORE

  4. 4. Wireless Sensor Network Systems in Harsh Environments and Antenna Measurement Techniques

    Author : Mathias Grudén; Anders Rydberg; Mikael Gidlund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wireless Sensor Network; Antenna; Jet engine; Train; Reverberation chamber; WISENET; Wisejet; Engineering Science with specialization in Microwave Technology; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrovågsteknik;

    Abstract : Wireless sensor network (WSN) has become a hot topic lately. By using WSN things that previously were difficult or impossible to measure has now become available. One of the main reasons using WSN for monitoring is to save money by cost optimization and/or increase safety by letting the user knowing the physical status of the monitored structure. READ MORE

  5. 5. Design and Performance of Diversity based Wireless Interfaces for Sensor Network Nodes

    Author : Magnus Jobs; Anders Rydberg; Shi Cheng; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wireless; Sensor; Network; WSN; Antenna; WISENET; Node; Diversity; Phased Array; Conformal; WBAN; Body Area; Engineering Science with specialization in Microwave Technology; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrovågsteknik;

    Abstract : The main focus of the work presented in this licentiate thesis concerns antenna design, adaptive antenna control and investigation on how the performance of small wireless nodes can be increased by inclusion of multiple antennas. In order to provide an end-user suitable solution for wireless nodes the devices require both small form factor and good performance in order to be competitive on the marked and thus the main part of this thesis focuses on techniques developed to achieve these goals.
