  1. 1. Design, production and characterization of synthetic immunogens : application on Plasmodium falciparum malaria antigens

    Author : Anders Sjölander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The development of synthetic subunit vaccines is presently one of the major strategies to construct vaccines against infectious diseases. Such vaccines are based on isolated and characterized immunogens and should include appropriate B- and T-cell epitopes. READ MORE

  2. 2. Analyses of shotcrete stress states due to varying lining thickness and irregular rock surfaces

    Author : Andreas Sjölander; Anders Ansell; Richard Malm; Fredrik Johansson; Jan Alemo; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Shotcrete; cracking; shrinkage; block load; varying thickness; numerical simulations; fibre reinforcement; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Abstract : Shotcrete is sprayed concrete applied pneumatically under high pressure and was invented in the beginning of the 1900's. This new technique decreased the construction time and since steel fibres were introduced in the shotcrete during the 1970's, shotcrete has been the primary support method for tunnels. READ MORE

  3. 3. Structural behaviour of shotcrete in hard rock tunnels

    Author : Andreas Sjölander; Anders Ansell; Richard Malm; Fredrik Johansson; Eivind Grøv; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; shotcrete; structural behaviour; material models; rock support; bond strength; fibre-reinforcement; Concrete Structures; Betongbyggnad;

    Abstract : Tunnels in hard and jointed rock are normally excavated in an arch shape to enable the rock mass to support its weight. Since the beginning of the 1980's, fibre reinforced shotcrete (FRS) in combination with rock bolts have been the dominating support method for hard rock tunnels. READ MORE

  4. 4. Toward Realistic Failure Evaluations for Concrete Buttress Dams

    Author : Jonas Enzell; Anders Ansell; Erik Nordström; Andreas Sjölander; Richard Malm; Leif Lia; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; concrete dams; buttress dams; stability analysis; dam failure behavior; physical model tests; FEM; betongdammar; lamelldammar; stabilitetsanalys; dammbrott; fysiska modellförsök; FEM; Betongbyggnad; Concrete Structures;

    Abstract : Concrete dams, complex structures supporting massive loads, have traditionally been assessed using simplified 2D analytical stability analyses based on the rigid body assumption. Previous studies have shown that 3D behavior, such as the interaction between the monoliths and the valley's geology, can greatly impact the load-bearing capacity of gravity dams but remains largely unexplored in buttress dams. 5. 5. The conflict between Grey seals (Halichoerus grypus) and the Baltic coastal fisheries : new methods for the assessment and reduction of catch losses and gear damage

    Author : Arne Fjälling; Mats Amundin; Sverre Sjölander; Anders Fernö; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Ecology; Grey seals; Baltic coastal fisheries; Ekologi; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : There is a problematic interaction going on between grey seals and the small scale coastal fisheries in the Baltic. A large number of seals are by-caught and drowned each year, and the viability of the fishery is threatened by catch losses caused by the seals. READ MORE
