  1. 1. Surface force studies of association phenomena at solid-liquid interfaces

    Author : Andra Dedinaite; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The main topics of this thesis, association phenomena inbulk and at solid-liquid interfaces in polar and non-polarmedia, were studied by a range of methods. Direct forcemeasurements employing the interferometric surface forceapparatus (SFA) was the chief technique. READ MORE

    Abstract : The main objective of this thesis work was to gain understanding of the principles of biolubrication, focusing on synergistic effects between biolubricants. To this end surface force and friction measurements were carried out by means of Atomic Force Microscopy, using hydrophilic and hydrophobic model surfaces in salt solutions of high ionic strength (≈ 150 mM) in presence of different biolubricants. 3. 3. Grafted Molecular Layers for Control of Surface Properties

    Author : Gunnar Dunér; Andra Dédinaité; Stefan Zauscher; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The goal of this thesis work was to develop responsive surface grafted brushlayers for control of surface properties and to gain insights in the molecular mechanisms that control these properties. Three types of grafted layers were investigated, as outlined below. READ MORE

  4. 4. Signal Enhancement by Dynamic Polymers in Quartz Crystal Microbalance Applications

    Author : Gunnar Dunér; Olof Ramström; Ian Nicholls; Andra Dedinaite; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Signal enhancement; QCM; polyelectrolytes; hydrogel; iniferter; photopolymerization; dynamic polymers; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract :  This licentiate thesis presents studies of signal enhancement by dynamic polymers in quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) applications. The aim of the study has been to determine the potential for the use of polymers on QCM sensors for signal enhancement in molecular interaction studies. READ MORE

  5. 5. Synergies in Biolubrication

    Author : Akanksha Raj; Andra Dedinaite; Imre Varga; KTH; []
