11. Dynamics of Excitation Transfer and Charge Separation in Polymeric Semiconductors
Abstract : Dynamics of optically excited electronic states have been studied in solid films and solutions of semiconducting polymers and model compounds. Transient absorption, monitored in the spectral range from 0.9 eV to 2.5 eV with a time resolution of about 100 fs, was the main experimental technique. READ MORE

12. Quantum Wavepacket Dynamics in Molecular and Trapped Ion Systems
Abstract : The motions of a wavepacket in the two coupled potentials studied in this thesis can be classified into either bistable or astable motion according to the wavepacket interference at the curve crossing. Bistable motion, in which the wavepacket performs a coupled oscillation but remains in the same adiabatic and diabatic state, can exist both in bound-bound systems and bound-unbound ones with long time stability. 13. Computational Models in Deep Brain Stimulation : Patient‐Specific Simulations, Tractography, and Group Analysis
Abstract : Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is an established method for symptom relief in movement disorders like Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor (ET), and dystonia. The therapy is based on implanting an electrode with four contacts in the deep brain structures where it provides electrical stimulation, mainly impacting the nerve tracts. READ MORE

14. The Fate of Electronically Excited States : Ultrafast Electron and Energy Transfer in Solvated Donor-Acceptor Systems
Abstract : Processes where a molecule absorbs visible light and then disposes of the excess energy via electron/energy transfer reactions have an important role both in nature (e.g. in photosynthesis) and in many technical applications (e.g. READ MORE

15. Effect of large shear deformation on fatigue crack behavior in pearlitic rail steel
Abstract : The impacts from global warming and climate change continue to rise and securing the needs of future generations requires a transition to a climate-neutral society. Rail transportation, as being one of the safest and most energy efficient modes of transportation offers a sustainable alternative to fossil-fueled based transportation. READ MORE
