  1. 1. MYC and MexR interactions with DNA : a Small Angle Scattering perspective

    Author : Francesca Caporaletti; Maria Sunnerhagen; Björn Wallner; Anne Martel; Ann Terry; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Protein-DNA complexes govern transcription, that is, the cellular mechanism that converts the information stored in the DNA into proteins. These complexes need to be highly dynamic to respond to external factors that regulate their functions in agreement with what the cells need at that time. READ MORE

  2. 2. Structure formation at solid/liquid interfaces : Understanding self-assembly and environmental challenges

    Author : Shirin Nouhi; Adrian R. Rennie; Vassilios Kapaklis; Maja S. Hellsing; Ann Terry; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Solid liquid interface; neutron scattering; colloidal particles; self-assembly; perfluoroalkyl substance; Moringa seed proteins; adsorption; lamellar disorder; thermal fluctuations.;

    Abstract : The work described in the present dissertation has explored the structure of particles and molecules at solid/liquid interfaces, aiming to understand the physics of self-organizing systems and use this knowledge to address some environmental issues. Surface-sensitive neutron scattering techniques, such as reflectometry and grazing incidence small angle scattering, have been used as the primary tool to investigate structures in proximity to an interface. 3. 3. Drum sound from floor coverings - objective and subjective assessment

    Author : Ann-Charlotte Johansson; Teknisk akustik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik; hydraulik; Maskinteknik; vacuum technology; vibration and acoustic engineering; hydraulics; acoustic standard; Mechanical engineering; tapping machine; veneer flooring; parquet flooring; binaural recording; foot impact; loudness; sound quality; listening test; paired comparisons; walking sound; drum sound; building acoustics; psychoacoustics; laminate flooring;

    Abstract : Drum sound is the sound produced when an object, such as a foot, hits the flooring in the room in which the receiving ear is located. Drum sound has attracted interest in recent years, particularly due to an increased use of thin floating floor constructions, such as veneer or laminate flooring, which can produce loud and sharp walking sound.
